THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO MATTHEW
CHPTRS. 20-24
Parable of the Wedding and the Father’s Invitation: Continued:
Also continuing with the question:“Do we wish to be found at the wedding feast adorned with the apparel of the “old man with his deeds”? — Are you putting off the “old man”, and putting on the “new man”? Do you know what has already been put on and put off of you?
PUT OFF MEANS TO SUSPEND
What in Christ have you put off ?
· DARKNESS
Isaiah 9:2, KJV The people that walked in darkness have seen a great LIGHT: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the LIGHT shined.
Do you know God? If you do, then He has lit your candle (Prov. 20:27; John. 1:9)? He has brought you out of darkness and death into His marvelous light (1 Pet. 2:9)
1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
Darkness has been put off of you.

Philippians 4:8-9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. ESV
THE ULTIMATED PUT ON AND OFF–PUT ON LOVE, PUT OFF LACK OF LOVE–LOVE AND CARE FOR ONE ANOTHER
Eph 4:23-24: and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, (24) and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Verse 24 to tell us what that reformed thinking looks like – we are to put on the new man, which was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.
It is to think of yourself as the new man who was created in the image of God — the new man who is righteous and holy. He’s saying this is who you are!
Let’s face it we live in a world greedy for self-gratification. It is I, I, I, me, me, me, mine, mine, mine. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE ARE CALLED TO DO.
Let us emulate the character and image of Christ. LOVE!! You are the light of the world reflecting Jesus to everyone you meet. You are the only Jesus Christ some people will ever see. I’m not saying you are Jesus, but you reflect His character if you are a believer.
We are to be different from the world. We are to love and care for one another. Whether in Wal-Mart buying groceries or at the local game, let’s reflect Christ’s character. Let’s do the golden rule. Let’s love and care for one another.
There are 250 one another’s in the Word of God. Here are just a few:
