The Doting Spirit of God

Lovingkindness and Acceptance

By Miki Maynard

Are you wondering if God cares about what is going on in your life? You see Him doing so much for others, and ask if He will care for you?

One morning at 5:00 AM I heard an audible “knock, knock, knock” on my headboard. Immediately, I knew it was the Lord knocking and calling me to come to Him.

Come away, come away my beloved come away. Song of Solomon 2:10

The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving devotion. Jeremiah 31:3

This was so amazing to me that I found myself thinking of ways, where under normal circumstances, some sort of knocking could have happened another way.  My room is on the third floor of my house and it’s impossible for anyone to be outside knocking on the wall by my headboard. There is a large woodpecker who occasionally pecks on the house, but it is obnoxious and sounds like someone is drilling into the house. When the Lord knocked on my headboard, it was winter and not when the woodpecker drills. The knocking was right near me, but up a bit on the headboard. It was gentle, but deliberate.

Many times when I wake up, I hear a song in my head. I realize that it was going through my spirit all night.

It dawned on me that it’s the Spirit lavishing love on me and also telling me something. When this happens, I believe it’s the Spirit singing over us like Zephaniah 3:17 says:

Yahweh your Elohim in your midst is mighty; he saves; he rejoices over you with cheerfulness; he hushes in his love; he twirls over you with shouting. Zephaniah 3:17

When He does this, I believe He is rejoicing over us, and on that particular day, has a specific message that He wants us to know. It reminds me of a mother who is doting over her baby. She sings to her baby, cares for her baby, twirls and dances with her baby, and she hushes her baby with her love when her baby needs it. Your God is devoted to pour out His love on you. It’s similar to the way a mother reassures her baby. It’s in His character to reassure you. Your God dotes over you.

If your parents aren’t the caring type or present in your life and this subject is painful for you, the Lord says this:

Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. Psalm 27:10

The word “receive” in the context means that he “takes you up.” This describes how He picks you up and cares for you. In the Jewish culture, when a child is adopted, they have all of the rights that the biological children have. That is what your God does for you. The Lord will work on your behalf and take care of all of the things that you think about. His word will come to pass for you and He won’t neglect you. He doesn’t accept one child, only to reject another one.

God is no respecter of persons to accept or reject one or another, because of who he is, and not because of what he does. Ephesians 6:8

Glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism. Romans 2:10, 11

You are not only accepted by our Heavenly Father, but in His love, He is devoted to you like a mother who is committed to caring for her precious baby. As you go through your day, turn your thoughts to your Heavenly Father. Put your heart in a place to receive from Him. You will notice that He is pouring out His lovingkindness and devotion upon you. He will reassure you with His love.  Watch and you will see that this love will build your faith and confidence in Him, and He will show you that He is taking care of you. This truth and promise is for you today!

All through the day Yahweh has commanded his loving devotion to pour over me. Psalm 42:8

More Verses On God’s Lovingkindness That Is Devoted To You

Deep calls to deep at the roar of your waterfalls; all your breakers and your waves have gone over me. By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. Psalm 42:7-8

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Psalm 36:7

Hear my voice according to your steadfast love; O Lord, according to your justice give me life. Psalm 119:149

Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior. Titus 3:4-6
