LESSON 3
Genesis 1:1- 2:25
CREATION
CREATION OF MANKIND, FORMING OF ADAM & EVE
Genesis Chapter 1
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Elohim) created (Bara) the heavens and the earth.
Gen.1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Prophetic symbolism:
The earth meaning us as earthen vessels without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep within my spirit until God said “let there be Light” Christ.
Christ in Genesis- The Creator
In the beginning God-Gen.1:1a
In the end…God.
(Rev 1:8) I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
Creator God, the One Independent Person in the Universe.
Isa. 45:6—“I am the Lord, and there is none else.”
1 Tim. 1:17—“the King eternal, immortal, invisible”
1 Tim. 6:16—“Whom no man hath seen, nor can see”
John 4:24—“God is Spirit”
1 Cor. 2:10,11—“only the Spirit of God knows the things of God.
Heb. 12:9—“be in subjection unto the Father of spirits and live.
God, and only God is independent; autonomous; self-existent; self-empowering; and self-generating. God’s essence is Spirit and God’s nature is Agape love.
Types and Shadows of Jesus Christ- Yeshua Ha Messiah
- Jesus Christ created the heavens and earth (Colossians 1:15-16).
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The phrase “in the beginning” is significant when attached to creation.
- It is used by Jesus to refer to the time of creation. Matthew 19:4- And He answered and said to them, Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning “made them male and female”,
- Jesus uses it to mark the intensity of tribulation. Mark 13:19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never shall be.
- It is used by the Apostle John to speak of the pre-existence of Christ. John 1:1-2 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.
- The Apostle Paul uses it to show how long the “mystery” had been hidden.Ephesians 3:8-9 This grace is given to me (who am less than the least of all saints) to preach the gospel of the unsearchable riches of Christ among the nations, and to bring to light what is the fellowship of the mystery which from eternity has been hidden in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ;
Elohim, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit Created-
Jesus, the Carpenter, built the universe. The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, made it inhabitable. God, the Architect, designed it. The Father originates, the Son executes, and the Holy Spirit consummates. The Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit are One. They have all things in common, yet the power to bring forth proceeds from the Father, the power to arrange from the Son, the power to perfect from the Holy Spirit. There was a division of labor but a unity of purpose.
Hebrews 1:2 tells us that God made the worlds through the Son. The Son had to have existed before anything was created, to create anything that exists so does the Father.
Ps.33:6 By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouthvs.9 For he spake, and it was done, he commanded, and it stood fast.”
Ps.148:1-6 “For he commanded and they were created.” Col. 1:16-17 Speaking of the Son, “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
(Col 1:16) For all things were created in Him, the things in the heavens, and the things on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, all things were created through Him and for Him.
THE THREE HEAVENS
- The first heaven is the Earth’s atmosphere:
“And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.”
(Gen 1:20 KJV)
- The second heaven is the vast expanse of the physical universe; outer space.
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”
(Gen 1:14 KJV)
These two heavens constitute a continuum called the “firmament” and this firmament is collectively called “Heaven”:
- And above it all, there is the Third Heaven.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
(Ephesians 3:17-19 KJV)
In the book of II Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 2, the Apostle Paul speaks of a place called the “third heaven”:
“I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.”
(II Cor. 12:2 KJV)
(Joh 1:1-5) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was in the beginning with God.All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.
(Heb 1:3a) (Christ) who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power……………
(Psa 90:2) Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting You are God.
(Isa 42:5a) So says Jehovah God, He who created the heavens and stretched them out, spreading out the earth and its offspring;
(Act 17:24) The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of Heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands,
(Rev 4:11) O Lord, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You created all things, and for Your will they are and were created.
The power to create is with the Almighty God.
- He made something from nothing. Hebrews 11:3 (compare Romans 4:17.)
- He created all things by the power of His word. Psalm 33:6, John 1:1-3
All things in the heavens and the earth were created by God. Acts 14:15
- He created the earth to be inhabited. Isaiah 45:18
- He gave the earth to mankind.
(Psa 115:15-16 You are blessed of Jehovah who made the heavens and the earth. The heavens, even the heavens, are Jehovah’s; but the earth He has given to the sons of men.
- The intent of God is that the inhabitants be spiritually “created.” Ephesians
2:10, 4:24
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. He created you. Then at the right time and place you were born. Fulfill your destiny and enjoy your relationship with your Creator.
Gen.1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
Darkness on the face of the deep.
*Symbol- darkness-Symbol of ignorance, blindness, sorrow and distress – Ex. 10:21-23; Job 18:18; Eph. 5:8-11; Col. 1:13; John 1:5, 2:8, 8:12, 1 John 2:11.
Deep-
The Hebrew term תְּהוֹם (tÿhom, “deep”) refers to the watery deep, the salty ocean – especially the primeval ocean that surrounds and underlies the earth (see Gen 7:11).
Spirit of God hovering:
The “Spirit of God” hovering over the waters comes from the Hebrew phrase ruach elohim, also a “great wind”. Rûach (רוּחַ) has the meanings “wind, spirit, breath,” and elohim can mean “great” as well as “god”: The ruach elohim which moves over the Deep means the “wind/breath of God” (the storm-wind is God’s breath in Psalms 18:16 and elsewhere, and the wind of God returns in the Flood story as the means by which God restores the earth).
THE SPIRIT OF GOD BROODING OVER THE DEEP TO PRODUCE LIFE
Then there is another and in this verse, indicating that something more happened: “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” The Hebrew word for moved also means brooded or hovered, as when a mother bird broods over her eggs to bring forth life. Then The Spirit of God came in to brood, to hover, over the situation in order to produce life.
(Jer 4:23) I looked on the earth, and, lo, it was without form and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
(Psa 104:30) You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; and You renew the face of the earth.
(Psa 33:6-7) By the Word of Jehovah were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathered the waters of the sea like a heap, setting the depths in storehouses.
Before we begin Gen 1:3, let us look at 3 Hebrew words.
CREATION-SETTING THINGS IN ORDER- THE SIX DAYS WORK–SIGNIFCANCE OF 3 HEBREW WORDS:
BARA, CREATE SOMETHING FROM NOTHING, BRING FORTH SOMETHING THAT IS RADICALLY NEW, EXTRAORDINARY, PRODUCE THROUGH SUPERNATURAL ACTIVITY;
HAYAH, CAUSE TO APPEAR OR ARISE, CAUSE TO BE MADE OR DONE. COME INTO EXISTENCE, COME TO PASS, MAKE INTO SOMETHING, AND COME INTO EXISTENCE;
ASA, PRODUCE OR MANUFACTURE, FABRICATE, MAKE SOMETHING FROM SOMETHING THAT EXISTS
Genesis 1:3 Then God (Elohim , plural-God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) said, “Let there (Hayah) be light” ( GLORY); and there was light.(Light in the Hebrew means revelation, understanding, glory of God, manifestation of God Himself)
Gen.1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
This command (i.e., “Let there be____”) is known as a Jussive. God used this command consistently in the first six instances to refer to something brought into existence that did not previously exist. Regardless of whatever these commands, signify, ex nihilo, (out of nothing) or de novo something new), they represent a fundamental change in the object that is “created.”
1ST DAY-LIGHT – GLORY- Everything God Is
Light- Hebrew- 215,216 “owr”1b1) to be illuminated 1b2) to become lighted up—to become glorious.
Opposite of darkness is light-glory.
GLORY
Hebrew=kabowd (kawbode)= weight, slendor, honor, abundance, riches, splendor,
Greek-=doxa= dignity, honor, praise, worship, splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, dignity, grace, majesty
Doxa is from dokeo=to think= The Glory of God is the Mind of Christ!
His glory is His goodness—the Glory of God is summed up in one word, One Name= the Name of Jesus Christ
His Name or His Nature (all that He is, has and does)
In Creation God’s Presence (Glory) came upon the earth, bringing order. Out of that order, everything was created.
In other words, God created, brought creation out of Himself.
God said let there be light = understanding. So let there be understanding = “grace” glory:
Darkness, ignorance, confusion was on the face of the deep and God brought glory/understanding.
(Pro 4:7) Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom; and with all your getting get understanding.
Let there be Light = Understanding = Grace /Glory:
Solomon said: with all thy getting get it: understanding. When understanding is embraced, grace/glory.
Cross Reference for Light:
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Psalms 104:2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
1 Timothy 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Consider Paul on the way to Damascus
Acts 26:13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.
Genesis 1:3 Cont.:
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
Let there be…..
2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
Isaiah 60:19 The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.
Psalm 148:5 Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.
Isaiah 45:7I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the Lord, who does all these things.
Psalm 33:9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.
Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
1 John 2:8 At the same time, it is a new commandment that I am writing to you, which is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.
Ephesians 5:14for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Ephesians 5:8 for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
John 3:19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
John 1:9 The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
Job 38:19“Where is the way to the dwelling of light, and where is the place of darkness,
1 Timothy 6:16 who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.
Psalm 118:27 The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar!
Psalm 104:2covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.
Job 36:30 Behold, he scatters his lightning about him and covers the roots of the sea.
The word “glory” means “brightness.” You will recall that when God appears in the Scripture, He is described as dwelling in light.
1Tim. 6:16 …in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen or can see…
In the book of Ezekiel, we read that the prophet had a vision of heaven. He described the throne room of God, saying,
Ezek. 10:4 …the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.
When the Lord came to the Israelites at Mount Sinai,
Exod. 24:17 …to the eyes of the sons of Israel the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like a consuming fire on the mountain top.
Now, the word “glory” in Hebrew is Kaw-BODE, which comes from the word for “heavy” or “weighty.” God’s glory is not just extreme brightness, also weight. When Solomon’s temple was finished, God’s glory filled it…
1Kgs. 8:11 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of the LORD.
The Radiance
Now that you have an idea of what the glory of the Lord is, read again that Jesus…
Heb. 1:3 …is the radiance of His glory
(Heb 1:3) who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power, through Himself cleansing of our sins, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on high,
Law of First Mention:
The principle that requires one to go to that portion of the Scriptures where a doctrine is mentioned for the first time and to study the first occurrence of the same in order to get the fundamental inherent meaning of that doctrine.
Genesis is a Seed Book and we will mention the law of first mention many times.
Salvation’s First Mention
Spiritually when God said let there be Light the same thing happened when you were initially saved in your spirit.
(Gen 1:2-3) And the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light. And there was light.
Some claim that God created darkness as the verse implies:
(Isa 45:6-7) that they may know from the rising of the sun, and to the sunset, that there isnone besides Me. I am Jehovah, and there is none else; forming the light and creating darkness; making peace and creating evil. I Jehovah do all these things.
Darkness is the absence of light. Light dispels darkness.
What happened when you were initially saved in your spirit:
(2Co 4:6) For it is God who said, “Out of darkness Light shall shine;” who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
(Eph 5:8) For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light
(1Th 5:5) You are all the sons of light and the sons of the day. We are not of the night, or of darkness.
God is Light—SO ARE WE
(Mat 5:14-16) You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under the grain-measure, but on a lampstand. And it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.
Esther 8:16 The Jews had light and gladness, joy and honor.
Psalm 97:11 Light is sown for the righteous, And gladness for the upright in heart.
Isaiah 58:8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Isaiah 60:20 Your sun shall no longer go down, Nor shall your moon withdraw itself; For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.
Parallel to Gen. 1:2-4 and When We Acknowledge (Believe in Our Heart)Jesus Christ
Genesis 1:2-4 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.
2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
GOD’S LIGHT/GLORY was the TRUE LIGHT/GLORY, THE LIFE GOD HIMSELF!!!! God placed Himself into the earth in order to provide an environment for ALL life to exist and be sustained once it was created. His Spirit Life (Light/Glory) had come to that which knew it not. His divine seed had been planted to impregnate and make alive every living thing that would be created! Let us always remember that the seed of all life in the beginning was in God.
“Let there be.”
One such command appears in verse 3 (light/glory); two in verse 6 (expanse and divided waters); two in verse 9 (waters gathered and appearance of dry ground); one in verse 11 (sprouting plants); one in verse 14 (luminaries); two in verse 20 ( sea creatures and flying animals); one in verse 24 (land animals); and one in verse 26 (mankind). All, with the exception of one, are used in the sense of God speaking to His creation. In the exception, one gets the sense of one member of the Godhead speaking to the others: In Gen. 1:26 we see: “Let us.”
GOD SAID IN CREATION- 10 TIMES; Notice God said, God commanded, God saw, God separated, God called, God made, God spoke, God divided.

Faith Speaks–Confessions on the Power of Words
Words are not just for the purpose of communicating with others, although they do serve as a means of communication between people. The primary purpose for words is to create things. God is the originator of all creation, and the Word of God says that this world was created through His Word.
Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
The first revelation given us in the Scriptures of the spoken word of faith by “The Word” was at creation. He merely said, “Let there be. . .” nine times over. As a result, the Father’s love-purposes in creation came into nine forms of manifestations. “Let there be” does not indicate that the Son was in some way trying to persuade the Father to do something. On the contrary, the Father was pressing his love- purposes into visibility, and the Son’s Word of Faith was making it happen.
As offspring of God, created in His image and likeness, we are supposed to be using our words to call those things that be not as though they were and pull unseen things out of the spiritual realm into the natural realm. However, we must grab hold of the fact that words are spiritual containers that carry faith or fear. When you speak the Word of God, you release the faith and power of God into the atmosphere of this earth and create an avenue through which the grace of God can flow into circumstances and situations.
Some confessions:
- Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and I use my mouth to speak life over myself, my family, my loved ones, and everything concerning me.
- My words have creative power.
- When I meditate on and speak the Word of God, I release God’s power to get involved with my situations and circumstances.
- I speak blessings and not curses over my life and the lives of others.
- I refrain from corrupt communication, understanding that it corrupts. I choose to speak only words that edify and reflect the grace of God.
- I align my words with the Word of God. I will not speak words that are contrary to the Word of God.
- I measure the things I am about to speak against the Word of God before I speak them.
- The Lord keeps a guard over my mouth, preventing me from speaking things that are negative, destructive, and contrary to the blessing of God.
- Through my words, I frame my world. My life is characterized by peace, prosperity, and abundance.
- Jesus said that whatever I bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatever I loose on earth is loosed in heaven. I now loose the blessings of God to flow into my life. I expect to be overtaken by goodness.
- I am delivered from the power of darkness. I know the truth, and the truth has set me free.
- I speak words of love, life, light, and healing.
- Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. My heart is filled with the Word of God in abundance, and it flows out of my mouth.
- I keep my tongue from evil. I do not have a forward mouth, and I do not have twisted speech.
- My words manifest in my life. Just like Jesus, I speak to things, and they line up with the perfect will of God.
- My life is blessed because I speak the Word of God at all times and refrain from speaking that which does not please God.

Summary 1st Day
1st Day- GLORY
Genesis 1:3 Then God said, “Let there be light/glory” and there was light/glory. Gen.1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
In the New Testament God is compared to light: “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.” (1 John 1:5) And Jesus Christ Himself is compared to light “That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” (John 1:9) “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Here the salvation by Jesus is compared to light, too. The person who believes in Jesus Christ is assumed to be the child of light and always must be shining, fight with the armor of light and is the light of the world. We have been translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light.
Rev. 21:23-25 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.24 And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.”
We have often heard these words of Jesus Christ, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” I John 8:12
GOD IS LIGHT
But so are we: “You are the light of the world.
Jesus said to us, “YOU ARE the LIGHT of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all that are in the house. Let YOUR LIGHT so SHINE BEFORE MEN, that they may SEE YOUR good works, and GLORIFY YOUR FATHER which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
What a paradox! In John 8:12 Jesus declares that “HE is the light of the world” and now He says that “WE are the light of the world”, thereby showing us that the children of God are sons and SONS SHINE! Our good works will cause those that are around us to give glory to our heavenly Father. Can we see that in Him we live and move and have our being? That He is alive today in a people shining forth to those that are in darkness? For us, the darkness is past, and in the world more and more darkness is being overtaken in light everyday. Darkness cannot comprehend light, but light can certainly dispel the darkness. As the children of God, when we are born again, we become one with Him and the light of His life emanates from us. Darkness cannot abide around the children of God, for the Light of life which is within us will reveal and remove the presence of any darkness. which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past and the true light now shines
(1Jn 2:8) Again, I write a new commandment to you, which thing is true in him and in you, because the darkness is passing and the true light already shines.
Yes, we are HIS! We have been born of His Spirit and our Father calls us LIGHT! Read carefully the following scripture, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
TITUS 3:4 But then, oh happy day! It was the generosity of God and his fondness for mankind that dawned on us like a shaft of light. Our days of darkness were over! Light shone everywhere and we became aware: God rescued the human race! Mirror Translation
THE BRIDE OF CHRIST IS LIKE THE MOON REFLECTING THE GLORY OF THE SUN, THE SON HER BRIDEGROOM! THE GLORY LIGHT CAME INSIDE OF HER! NEW COVENANT REALITY. BEFORE THE WORLD WOULD ROB THE MOON OF ITS LIGHT WHEN IT MOVES BETWEEN THEM.NOW SHE CAN CONTINUE TO REFLECT HIS GLORY EVEN WHEN CLOUDS OR THE BIG DARK WORLD SEPARATES THEM.EVERYTHING REMAINS THE SAME; THE SUN STILL SHINES AS POWERFULL AS EVER AND SHE HAS THE LIGHT INSIDE HER BECAUSE AS HE IS SO IS SHE! NO MORE DARK MOON!!!
DAY 1-Symbolically/spiritually: ONE. Denotes unity, and commencement. The first occurrences of words or utterances denote their essential significance, in interpretation. Words that occur only once, in the originals, are emphatic and important. First day, Light/Glory
Let there be Light Cont.’:
Everything is ‘speaking’… with molecular activity, everything in the world is ‘vibrating’ or sending out frequencies of some sort. Revelation 1:10 and 15 speaks of a Sound, a Voice; “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great VOICE, as of a TRUMPET… and His VOICE as the sound of many waters.” All of creation is making a Sound, “For we know that the whole creation GROANS and travails in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves GROAN within ourselves…” (Romans 8:22-23) Do you hear the Sound?… If so, join your voice with that Sound, allow the groan within you to come forth and resonate the groan from the Throne. It is the VOICE, the Sound, that brings forth LIGHT, for it was the VOICE that called forth light in Genesis, that the purposes of God for the earth be made manifest. That same VOICE resonates through all creation as “the whole creation GROANS”. And what exactly is that VOICE crying out for?… the revealing of the sons of God, the sons of Zadok! Deep is CALLING to deep, resonating the Voice as the sound of many waters.
It is the VOICE of many waters, resonating the Sound of heaven, that brings forth LIGHT. It was the VOICE that brought forth Light in Genesis, and it is the VOICE of many waters that brings forth Light to resonate the Throne of God in the earth. “And the seventh angel SOUNDED; and there were great VOICES in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the Kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15)
2ND DAY-ATMOSPHERE
Genesis 1:6-8 Then God said, “Let there (Hayah) be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”7 Thus God made (Asah) the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so.8 And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
Some Hebrew word meanings Gen. 1:3-13
Verse 3–“Let there be…..”- hayah- bring forth light- illumination, revelation- glory
1g) light of life
1h) light of prosperity
1i) light of instruction
Verse 4 saw– perceive, consider–good-2) a good thing, benefit, welfare
2a) welfare, prosperity, happiness
divided- 1a3) to make a distinction, difference
verse 5–Day-1b2) as a division of time
Night 1a) night (as opposed to day)
Exodus 20:11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
Several theories about time mentioned here:
The literal day theory- 24 hour periods
Day age theory- periods of indefinite time–Evening and morning-The evening and the morning: The Hebrews began each new day at sunset.
Verses 6,7,8–firmament
- extended surface (solid), expanse, firmament
1a) expanse (flat as base, support)
1b) firmament (of vault of heaven supporting waters above)
1b1) considered by Hebrews as solid and supporting ‘waters’ above
The water-covered Earth was apparently surrounded by vapor. God used the firmament, the space between the surface and the clouds, to separate the two “waters,” creating a massive vapor canopy high above the Earth (Hebrew mabbul). These waters which were above provided a protective greenhouse effect over the world of that period. ( water canopy)
Verse 8- Heaven 1) heaven, heavens, sky
1a) visible heavens, sky
1a1) as abode of the stars
1a2) as the visible universe, the sky, atmosphere, etc
1b) Heaven (as the abode of God)
The earth’s waters were divided, raqiya, visible dome of the sky (technically the atmosphere immediately above the earth, water canopy, broken up at the flood)
Proverbs 8:27-29 When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, 28 When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, 29 When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth,
(Job 38:8-11) Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth as it came from the womb? When I made the clouds its robe, and darkness its navel-band, and set My limit on it, and set bars and doors, and I said, You shall come to here, but no further; and here your proud waves shall stop.
(Psa 104:6-9) You covered the deep as with a robe; the waters stand above the mountains. At Your rebuke they flee; at the voice of Your thunder they hurry away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys to the place which You have founded for them. You have set a bound that they may not pass over, so that they do not turn again to cover the earth.
(Pro 8:27-29) When He prepared the heavens, I was there; when He set a circle upon the face of the deep; when He set the clouds above; when He made the strong fountains of the deep; when He gave to the sea its limit that the waters should not pass His command; when He appointed the foundations of the earth;
(Jer 5:22) Do you not fear Me? says Jehovah. Will you not tremble at My presence, I who have placed the sand for the boundary of the sea by a never-ending decree, so that it cannot pass it? And though they toss themselves, yet they cannot prevail; though its waves roar, yet they cannot pass over it?
(2Pe 3:5) For this is hidden from them by their willing it, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of the water, and through water, being held together by the Word of God,
(Psa 148:4) Praise Him, heavens of heavens, and waters that are above the heavens.
What about “the waters above”?
In Genesis 1:6-8 that on the second day of creation God divided the waters that were on the earth from the waters that He placed above the earth when He made a “firmament” (Hebrew: raqiya, meaning “expanse”) between those waters.
Many have concluded that this “expanse” was the atmosphere, because God placed the birds in the expanse, suggesting that the expanse includes the atmosphere where the birds fly. This would put these waters above the atmosphere.
So what were these “waters above”? Some have said that they are simply the clouds. Others thought of them as a “water vapor canopy,” implying a blanket of water vapor surrounding the earth.
Was there an ancient vapor canopy around the Earth that shielded pre-Flood inhabitants from harmful radiation that causes everything from skin cancer and mutations?
Waters in the earth could have been fountains of the deep mentioned in Genesis 7.
Genesis 1:6 describes the firmament (Hebrew raqia) separating the water below from the water above. Before the flood described in Genesis, the magnetic field may even have helped to suspend the firmament above the earth.
Spiritually/symbolically: THE SECOND DAY OF CREATION
The Word of God separated the waters in Heaven from waters in the earth.
Water in Heaven = Word of God and the Messiah (Deut 11:8-14, Deut 32:2, Isaiah 55:10-11, Hosea 6:3, Joel 2:23-24,28)
Joel 2:23 = Former Rain = Hebrew-Moreh Tzeddakah = Teacher of Righteousness
Jesus/Yeshua is THE TEACHER OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (John 3:2)
Waters on earth = Seas = Domain of satan (Ezekiel 29:2-3, Psalm 74:12-13, Revelation 13:1)
TWO. Denotes difference. If two different persons agree in testimony it is conclusive. Otherwise two implies opposition, enmity, and division. Compare the use of the word “double“ applied to “heart“, “tongue“, “mind“, etc.
3RD DAY-EARTH RAISED UP OUT WATER-Continents (dry land) raised from the waters of the sea, vegetation developed by embryos. (seeds)
Genesis 1:9-13 Then God said, “Let (Asah) the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so.10 And God called the dry land Earth and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good .11 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.12 And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 13 So the evening and the morning were the third day.
(Psa 65:9-13) You visit the earth and water it; You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for in this way You have prepared it. You fill its terraces with water; You deepen its furrows; You make it soft with showers; You bless the sprouting of it. You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drop fatness. They drop on the pastures of the wilderness; and the little hills gird themselves with joy. The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with grain; they shout for joy and sing.
(Psa 104:14) He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for the service of man, to bring forth food out of the earth,
On the third day, the day of resurrection, the buried earth came up (typifying the buried Christ resurrected), ready to produce life. The producing of life started from the lowest life. There is a sequence of life in Genesis, beginning with the lowest life, the life without any consciousness. First, we find the grasses, the herbs, and the trees (vv. 11-13). These are living things, but their life is very low and without any consciousness. These were created on the third day, immediately after the earth resurrected from the death water.
Spiritually/symbolically: This is the 3rd Day: After “two days,” after 2,000 years, He has promised to “revive” us. He is quickening us, restoring us to life and health. “In” (during) the Third Day He has determined to “raise us up.” He has roused us from sleep and empowered us to stand up again.
Here we also see that the third day of creation was a day of separation, as He separated the land and the seas. It was also a day of fruitfulness, as the earth brought forth fruit of the same kind as the seed that was contained therein. What a picture for us, as this Third Day we are moving into is indeed a day of separation (death) and fruitfulness (new Life).
THE THIRD DAY OF CREATION
Seeds created on the 3rd Day
The Word of God -seedtime. Earth yields two types of seeds.
Grass and herbs yield seed (Genesis 1:11) Grass is a picture of the flesh (Isaiah 40:3,6-8, II Kings 19:26, Isaiah 51:12-13, Psalm 37:1-2)
Grass = Flesh = Dismayed and Confounded = Forgets Lord = Evildoers
Tree yielding fruit. The seed is in itself (Genesis 1:11)
Tree yielding fruit is a picture of believers in Jesus/Yeshua obeying The Word of God (Psalm 1:1-3, Jeremiah 17:7-8, Psalm 92:12, Revelation 22:1-2)
THREE. Denotes completeness, as three lines complete a plane figure. Hence, three is significant of Divine perfection and completeness. The third day completes the fundamentals of creation-work. The fourth, fifth, and sixth days are the counterpart and repetition of the first, second, and third, and correspond respectively. The number, three, includes resurrection also; for on the third day the earth rose up out of the deep, and fruit rose up out of the earth.
3rd Day-3’s
THERE ISN’T ANYTHING NEW UNDER THE HEAVENS! Even the divine principles of the Kingdom and our King that are being released in our midst today ARE NOT NEW! We are simply WAKING UP to them, just as we did when we were saved! Salvation had always been there for us, we just had to AWAKEN to it! GLORY TO GOD! And so now, we are continuing in that AWAKENING as we enter into the glorious liberty which has ALWAYS been ours! Let us not reject the WORD as did Israel of old when He didn’t reveal Himself in the time nor the form they expected.
We are the first generation to enter a NEW MILLENIUM. Now there are those who would argue that 2000 years haven’t passed until 2001 because the change from B.C. to A.D. was a zero year. Regardless of the arguments, the THIRD DAY is upon us. We have entered the THIRD DAY or the Third Millenium since Christ and the Church is still PRESENT in the EARTH!
THE TRIUNE PROGRESSION
Even from the creation, God has always worked in threes. We will use the layout of the Tabernacle to help us to be able to visualize the progression of the plan of God. Here are just a few examples:
Outer Court | Holy Place | Most Holy Place |
Body | Soul | Spirit |
Passover | Pentecost | Tabernacles |
Salvation | Spirit Baptism | Fulness |
Natural Light | Artificial Light | Divine Light |
All Israel | Priests | High Priest |
Thanksgiving | Praise | Worship |
Brass | Silver | Gold |
30-fold | 60-fold | 100-fold |
Divine Healing | Divine Health | Divine Life |
1st Day | 2nd Day | 3rd Day |
We can find such a picture of this Life in the ‘seed bed’ of Genesis, as often the Father shows forth spiritual things by giving us illustrations in nature. “And God said, Let the waters under the Heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, WHOSE SEED IS IN ITSELF, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, WHOSE SEED WAS IN ITSELF, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the THIRD DAY.” (Genesis 1:9-13) Here we see that the third day of creation was a day of separation, as He separated the land and the seas. It was also a day of fruitfulness, as the earth brought forth fruit of the same kind as the seed that was contained therein. What a picture for us, as this Third Day we are moving into is indeed a day of separation (death) and fruitfulness (new Life).
4TH DAY-HEAVENS GARNISHED, SUN SHINES, MOON REFLECTS
Genesis1:14-19 Then God said, “Let there (Hayah) be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;15 “and let (Hayah) them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.16 Then God made (Asah)two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made (Asah) the stars also.17God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
Time as we know it was not created until the 4th day.—
The earth began to rotate, once every 23 hours 56 minutes and 4 seconds. We round that off to a 24 hour period, 1 day. Earth’s tilt causes seasons and earth’s revolution around sun, 365.2422 days. In our modern calendar, a ‘normal’ year has 365 days, with every 4th year having 366 days.
The Hebrew calendar counts 360 days.360 days enforces the biblical concepts that, “a day is as a year,” and also, “a thousand years is as a day.”

THE EARTH IS THE REASON FOR THE UNIVERSE.
The Universe is made for the Earth.
Why Is the Universe so Vast?
What do you feel when you look at the night sky? Awe? Insignificance? Adoration? Due to “light pollution,” people in most cities can only make out a few hundred stars with the naked eye. As King David did when he declared, “The heavens declare the glory of God!” (Psalm 19:1, NASU).
The universe, our galaxy, our Solar System and the Earth-Moon double planet system demonstrate some remarkable evidence of intelligent design.
We are a product of a miracle—either a miracle of design. Let’s look at a few of the improbable highlights for the design of the earth and our Solar System.
Unique location in our galaxy—co-rotation radius
Unique stabilization of the inner solar system
Unusually circular orbit of the earth
Axial tilt and eccentricity of orbit
The presence of an “impossibly” large moon
Unusually thin atmosphere
Slowing rotation makes advanced life possible
Van-Allen radiation shield is unique to Earth
Unique continental crust and tectonic activity
All other earth-sized planets will be either deserts or waterworlds “Around countless stars in our galaxy, and innumerable galaxies through space there are Terrestrial planets, yet they will not be Earth-like.
Reduction of greenhouse gases with increasing solar luminosity
The need for Jupiter-sized planets at 5 AU from its star
“We now know that these other planetary systems don’t look like the solar system at all. We also know that the solar system is special and understand at some level what makes it special.”
Jupiter is now our great protector and is responsible for collecting and ejecting a large proportion of meteors and comets.

SOME MORE SCIENCE THEORIES AND FACTS
- The universe remains one of the greatest questions in science, current scientific evidence supports the Big Bang theory, which states that between 10 and 20 billion years ago, the entire contents of the universe expanded explosively into existence from a single, hot, dense chaotic mass; our Solar System formed from a nebular cloud of dust and gas about 4.6 billion years ago.
- Evidence suggests that our universe is expanding (e.g., the Doppler shift of light from distant galaxies reaching telescopes on Earth suggests that galaxies are moving away from the Earth and provides support for the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe) God said , “let there be light!”
- There are ongoing processes involved in star formation and destruction (e.g., stars condense by gravity out of clouds of molecules of the lightest elements; nuclear fusion of light elements into heavier ones occurs in the stars’ extremely hot, dense cores, releasing great amounts of energy; some stars eventually explode, producing clouds of material from which new stars and planets condense) Ongoing process of creation.
- The Earth is a Unique Planet. The Earth has many special features that set it apart from its planetary siblings within the Solar System. It has a unique position relative to the Sun; it is the only planet within the Habitable Zone. Moreover, the Earth is fortunate that a series of circumstances (its relation to the gas giant planets, a large moon and a particularly stable orbit, an atmosphere and a magnetic field) have combined to enhance the long-term stability of the planet, allowing an extended period over which life could develop.
- Conditions on the Earth are maintained between the atmosphere developing into a runaway greenhouse and the Earth becoming a ball of ice by the process of plate tectonics, which keeps the carbon balance between the atmosphere, the hydrosphere (the water, i.e. oceans, lakes and rivers) and the lithosphere (the continents). All these circumstances conspire to render the Earth and the development of higher forms of life unique.
- Earth’s average distance from Sun: approximately 150 million km or 93 million miles. (Just right- not too cold or hot.)
- Earth’s Shape: More or less spherical (causing uneven heating of the earth) (seasons)
- Earth’s Area of water: 361,740,000 km2 (139,668,500 square miles), this are 71% of the total surface of the Earth.97 percent is salt water, only 3 percent is fresh water. Enough to support life and cause water cycle.
- Earth’s Density: Earth is the densest major body in the solar system. Density of the Earth is about 5.52 g/cm3 or 5520 kg/m3. This effects rotation and revolution.
- Earth’s Moon-equatorial radius 1738.1 km (1079.5 miles) average distance from earth: 384,000 km (211,265 miles)The Moon orbits Earth in 27.3217 days. Keeps Earth from constant bombardment. Provides light by night.
- Earth’s Orbital Data: Sidereal period (Time Earth needs to orbit the sun once) 365.256 days Rotation: The daily rotation of the earth, which causes the distinction between day and night, has been used as the basis for time reckoning for thousands of years. It takes 23.9345 hours for the Earth to rotate a complete revolution. Provides seasons and safety in solar system.
- Earth’s spin axis is not perpendicular, the axis is tilted 23,45°, this circumstance causes the seasons, because Earth’s surface changes its position relative to the Sun and so the amount of heat delivered to the surface.
- Earth’sVelocity: The Earth orbits the Sun at a speed of 29.79 km (18.51 miles) per second or 107,870 km (67,000 miles) per hour. Maintains speed for position.
- Earth’s Atmosphere :Average Surface Pressure: 1014 milibars Surface Density: 1.217 kg/m3 The air that you breathe (dry air): Major: 78.084% Nitrogen (N2), 20.946% Oxygen (O2)Minor (parts per million): Argon (Ar) – 9340; Carbon Dioxide (CO2) – 350; Neon (Ne) – 18.18; Helium (He) – 5.24; CH4 – 1.7; Krypton (Kr) – 1.14; Hydrogen (H2) – 0.55 ) (perfect for life)
- Earth’s Life: Including animals, plants, fungi, bacteria, and protists there may be over 30 million different species, the total number of animal species currently known is 1.5 million. Prevents extinction.

(Psa 74:16) The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.
Deuteronomy 4:19 “And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.
(Psa 104:19) He appointed the moon for seasons; the sun knows its going down.

(Psa 8:3) When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have established;

The stars were created to serve for fixed times, seasons, and signs. The ancients placed all the stars within constellations which were used in navigation as well as in the myths of their time. Next they were to be for seasons. The ancients knew exactly when the summer and winter solstices were based on the position of the sun and therefore knew when to plant and harvest their crops. They also were aware of certain constellations that were only up in the sky certain times of the year. Finally they were to be for days and years. Young Earth Creationists argue this command as proof that these Days were 24-hour periods based on this verse. It is true that the word day (yom) is the same throughout the passage. In this verse alone we see it used as the 12-hour daylight portion and the 24-hour time period. This in no way limits the Creation Days as 24-hour time periods. Each usage must be interpreted by its context and the overarching theme we have noted is that these are God’s Days and they are not limited to the solar days we experience today.
Symbolically/spiritually:
The Meaning of Numbers: The Number 4
Now 4 is made up of three and one (3+1=4), and it denotes His creative works. He is known by the things that are seen. Hence the written revelation commences with the words, “In the beginning God CREATED.” Creation is therefore the next thing – the fourth thing, and the number four always has reference to all that is created
The fourth day saw the material creation finished (for on the fifth and sixth days it was only the furnishing and peopling of the earth with living creatures). The sun, moon, and stars completed the work, and they were to give light upon the earth which had been created, and to rule over the day and over the night (Genesis 1:14-19).
- Four is the number of the great elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
- Four are the regions of the earth: north, south, east, and west.
- Four are the divisions of the day: morning, noon, evening, and midnight.
- Four are the seasons of the year – spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
- Four are the great variations of the lunar phases.
THE FOURTH DAY OF CREATION
Symbolically Cont.’:
The Word of God- Light ruling over darkness
Types and Shadows of Jesus Christ- Yeshua Ha Messiah
- He is the Light created on the 4th Day- 4,000 years from Adam- Jesus came into this world, “He is the Light of the World.”
Two Great lights
Greater light = Christ/The Messiah = Sun = Rules over the lesser light- Daystar arises.
(Malachi 4:2) But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall arise, and healing will be on His wings. And you shall go out and frisk like calves of the stall.
(Psalm 19:1-5) The heavens declare the glory of God; and the expanse proclaims His handiwork. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor are there words; their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth and their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, and he comes forth as a bridegroom from his canopy; he rejoices as a strong man to run a race,
Lesser light = The believers in Jesus Christ following the Word of God= Moon = stars = children of the day.
(1 Thessalonians 5:5) You are all the sons of light and the sons of the day. We are not of the night, or of darkness.
Moon = picture of believers, the Body Of Christ, Bride of Christ following the Word of God.
Every month the moon is born anew. At the time of the new moon, the moon can barely be seen. Then as the month progresses, it becomes a full moon. This a spiritual picture of one becoming a believer in Messiah and thus becoming (born again/anew) and then growing into a fuller knowledge of Messiah (spiritual maturity) which is compared to the full moon.
Notice the cycle of the moon (symbolic of the soul) and how it cycles from darkness to light, reflecting all the Light of the Sun (Christ) when it is full! 3 FOLD SALVATION, the soul being saved. ILLUMINATION happens when the WORD that is REVEALED is UNDERSTOOD to the point that it lights our path. “The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.” [Ps 119:130](Genesis 1:14; Job 38:33 and Colossians 2:14)
The moon has no light of its own but reflects the light of the Sun/Son.
God told Abraham that his descendants would be like the stars in the sky.
(Genesis 15:3-5) And Abram said, Behold, You have given no seed to me. And behold, one born in my house is my heir. And behold, the Word of Jehovah came to him saying, This one shall not be your heir. But he that shall come forth out of your own bowels shall be your heir. And He brought him outside and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them. And He said to him, So shall your seed be.
(1Co 15:38-41) And God gives it a body as it has pleased Him, and to each of the seeds its own body. All flesh is not the same flesh; but one kind of flesh of men, and another flesh of beasts, and another of fish, and another of birds. There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the glory of the heavenly is truly different, and that of the earthly different; one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
FOUR. Denotes creative works (3 + 1), and always has reference to the material creation, as pertaining to the earth, and things “under the sun“, and things terrestrial.
5TH DAY-FISH AND BIRDS BROUGHT FORTH
Genesis 1:20-23 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.”21 So God created (Barah) great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged birdaccording to its kind. And God saw that it was good.22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill (HEBREW REPLENISH) the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
(Psa 104:25-28) This is the great and wide sea, in which are creeping things without number, both small and great animals. There the ships go; You made this great sea animal to play in it. These all wait on You, that You may give them their food in due season. You give to them, they gather; You open Your hand; they are filled with good.
Noah gathered these in the ark or that they came to him: (Gen 8:17) Bring out with you every living thing that is with you, of all flesh, of fowl, of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, so that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth.
Here we see the law of genetics which precludes the evolution into another kind (notice according to their kind). The word fill here means replenish which relates to fullness and fulfillment, filling up to the brim, thoroughly saturated, abundance, more than enough.
Symbolically/spiritually:
The 5th Day of creation is symbolic of our beginning living relationship with the Lord. That is the point at which living animals start to come. On the fifth day, we have the ones that populate the sky and the land: the birds flying in the air, and the fish swimming in the sea.
These are the living creatures. The living creatures represent our feelings, our loves; and these develop later on.
The birds are the living spiritual thoughts/ words that we have, and the fish are the living material or manifestations of the thoughts/words that we have. We have both our spiritual and our material knowledge working. Supernatural: His Super our natural.
FIVE. Denotes Divine grace. It is 4 + 1. It is God adding His gifts and blessing to the works of His hands. The Hebrew Ha’aretz (the earth), by “Gematria“ (that is to say the addition of the numerical value of the letters together) is a multiple of four, while Hashamayim (the heavens) is a multiple of five. The Gematria of (charis), the Greek for Grace, is also a multiple of five. It is the leading factor in the Tabernacle measurements.
Creation Poem
God’s Mighty Hand
Through his power all things were made things in heaven and on earth, things seen and unseen. (Colossians 1:16)
With one decision, history began. Existence became measurable.
Out of nothing came light. (glory)
Out of light (glory) came day.
Then came sky and earth.
And on this earth, A mighty hand went to work.
Canyons were carved.
Oceans were dug.
Mountains erupted out of flatlands.
Stars were flung.
A universe sparkled.
6TH DAY-ANIMALS BROUGHT FORTH, CREATION OF MANKIND (ALL OUR LITTLE SPIRITS)
Genesis 1:24-25 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth (Bara) the living creatureaccording to its kind: cattle( domestic animals) and creeping thing(mice, insects, reptiles) and beast of the earth (wild animals of today), each according to its kind”; and it was so.25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. (This was said 6 times)
Notice every living creature according to its own kind: Theory of Evolution disproved here.
The theory of evolution is not compatible with Scripture. Scripture states that each varying classification, at creation, was made “after its own kind,” or “according to its own kind.” (Genesis 1:25; etc.) In not a single instance has one class of creature evolved into another. And yes, everything was “created” — that, is, made out of nothing. Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Before anything else was, there was God.
Scientist’s Theory of Geological Time Scale
The following chart clearly contrasts the teachings of Scripture and the claims of evolution.

Marine life developed gradually, from an organic blob.Fishes evolved hundreds of millions of years before birds.
Reptiles evolved before birds & whales. |
DAY 6 MANKIND WAS CREATED- NOT EVOLVED
THE EARTH AND EVERYTHING ON IT WAS MADE FOR MANKIND. THE EARTH WAS MADE IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS OF HEAVEN.
6th Day- Creation of Mankind
Gen.1:26 Then God said, “LET US (plural, Elohim, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit)) make man (mankind, the human race) in Our image, according to Our likeness; let THEM have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”27 So God created (Bara) man (mankind) in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
(Jer 27:5) I have made the earth, man, and the animals on the face of the earth, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed right to Me.
OUR SPIRITS WERE ALL CREATED AT THE SAME TIME (in God’s own image) Hebrew, Tslem, meaning righteous, holy, knowledgeable, the nature of God and according to Our likeness, demooth, means an exact duplication in kind. God brought all our little spirits out of Himself.

Notice this is not the forming of Adam which wasn’t until after the 7th Day. It was the creation of you and me, our little spirits.
SIX. Denotes the human number. Mankind was created on the sixth day; and this first occurrence of the number makes it (and all multiples of it) the hall-mark of all connected with mankind. The hours of our day are a multiple of six (24). Athaliah usurped the throne of Judah six years. The great men who have stood out in defiance of God (Goliath and Nebuchadnezzar and Antichrist) are all emphatically marked by this number.
Genesis 5:2 He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Adam (Mankind) in the day they were created.

GOD created mankind in His image, Gen 1:27, and GOD (Jesus Christ) was born in the image of man, Luke 2:7.

We must remember Who designed us according to His image and likeness.

(Deu 32:18) You forgot the Rock who brought you forth, and ceased to care for God who formed you.

WE CAME FROM THE BOSOM OF THE FATHER
As He is so are we! (1Jn 4:17) In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world.

Jesus represents the innermost being of God. He is our guide who accurately declares and interprets the invisible God within us.
We are so very intimately connected to God: tenderly enfolded in the bosom of Jesus, who is tenderly enfolded into the bosom of the Father which means a place of blessedness and relationship.
The creation of mankind in God’s image is confirmed throughout the Bible. Genesis 5:1-2, James 3:9.(quoted above)
God is a spirit and He created mankind to enable worship in the spirit.
(John 4:24) God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
- Mankind’s spirit lives in his body, but is distinct from it. James 2:26
- Mankind’s spirit is eternal. Ecclesiastes 12:7, 2 Corinthians 5:1-9 3.
- The connection between the spirit and body is the soul. (mind, will, emotions)
Mankind should not disavow his/her spiritual nature. 2 Peter 2:9-12 shows this disavowment as animal nature.
(2Pe 2:9-12) The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unjust for a day of judgment, to be punished, and especially those who walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise dominion. They are darers, self-pleasing; not trembling at glories, speaking evil. Where angels, who are greater in power and might, do not bring a reproaching accusation against them before the Lord. But these, as unreasoning natural brute animals having been born for capture and corruption, speak evil of the things that they do not understand. And they will utterly perish in their own corruption,
Being spiritual, man is able to discern spiritual things. 1 Corinthians 2:12-15, 14:37
God created them male and female. So, He created male and female spirits?
MALE & FEMALE
Yet Galatians 3:28 says: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Some scholars say Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 are the same creation story of Adam and Eve-repeated and enlarged.
I am of the persuasion that God created mankind, our little spirits, Gen. 1:26 and then He formed Adam and brought forth Eve later.
He chose us in Him before the foundations of the world.
(Eph 1:4) according as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
Let’s look at the Hebrew words for make, create, form and made in Gen, 1:26, Gen. 2:7 and Gen. 2:21.
Gen.1:26 Then God said, “ let us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; let THEM have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”27 So God created (Bara) mankind in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Formed- YATSAR-H3335-FORM, MAKE, PLAN, DEVISE, FASHION, BRING FORTH SOMETHING THAT IS FASHIONED AS A POTTER DOES THE CLAY
Gen.2:21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Made- BANAH-H1129- BUILT, TO SURELY BUILD, CONSTRUCT, FASHION, ORTIFY, SET, LITERALLY BUILT TO HAVE CHILDREN.
We will look at these words again in Gen. 2.
What does it mean to be created in the image of God?
Many people believe that our ability to reason, or our ability to be spiritual, affords us the image of God although we do have wisdom in our spirits. We do have the ability to discern in our spirits.
Our ability to reason, our intelligence, and our emotions all originate from a specific part of our make-up that we actually share with the animals, the soul. Men and animals both have souls. Let’s look at what the Bible has to say about the matter.
Genesis 1:21 states:
“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moves, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.”
Genesis 2:7 states:
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
In both passages the underlined word is the same. It is the word nephesh which means “soul, self, life, creature, person, appetite, mind, living being, desire, emotion, or passion.” The soul is the seat of our appetites, our minds, our emotions, and our will. Creatures have a soul (a mind) and a body.
Our soulish realm is in the process of being saved, sanctified. This is the way I like to say it. My spirit is saved (redemption), just like God, my soul is being saved (sanctification) and my body shall be saved (glorification).
Mankind is created in the image of God because of their ability to be spiritual.
Hebrews 1:13 – 14 states:
“But to which of the angels said He at any time, Sit on My right hand, until I make thine enemies Thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?”
The word “spirit” is the word pneuma which means “breath.” The Hebrew equivalent, neshamah, is found in Genesis 2:7 and is translated “the breath.” It is obvious from these two passages that men and angels both possess spirits. The spirit is lacking in animals, but present in both creatures that have the ability to commune with God. Angels are not made in the image of God however. It is the spirit that imparts this ability to both men and angels.
Then what distinguishes men from both animals and angels? Animals have a soul and a body. Angels have a spirit and sometimes a body. They are both dualities. Men are trinities, just like God. Mankind consists of spirit, soul, and body. To further the point, 1 Thessalonians 5:23 states:
“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
In Hebrews 4:12 we read:
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
Genesis 1:26 states:
“And God said, Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
The word for God in this passage is Elohim or Eloyhim, which is a plural word. Does this not, along with the words Us and Our in the passage, suggest the Trinity, the one God consisting of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Man is a trinity, and God is the Trinity. God made men in His likeness by imparting to him a three-part unity. Each part of the man is fully him, just like each part of the God-head is fully God.
One of the biggest mistakes that is made in biblical interpretation is equating the spirit and the soul of man as the same. It leads to major problems in interpreting passages concerning salvation, eternal security, and rewards. We must see the importance of making a distinction between the two.

Spirit/Soul Differences
1 Thes. 5:23—“Sanctify body, soul and spirit.”
Matt. 11:28,29—“There is a rest for our souls
Heb. 4:13—“Sabbath rest for the people of God”
Heb. 4:13—“Dividing soul from Spirit, joints and marrow, thoughts and intents of heart.”
Rom. 7:25—“I myself with my mind am serving the law of God.”
Matt. 26:39—“Not my will, but thine.”
Mankind made in the likeness of God; We are created a little lower than God (Elohim).
Summary spirit, soul body:
The Human is Tripartite (I Thessalonians. 5:23)
Body-Outer bodily expression-
Soul-Emotions, feelings, intellect, reasoning, personality
Mind-(Knowing)-We know that we know
Will-Receiving faculty
Soulish- Needy-Me
Spirit (Heart- mind of the spirit) agape love
How do you identify yourself? We are spirit beings clothed in soul and body! Did you get that? We are spirits being!!
The human being is God’s top created being. He/She is marvelously constructed, created in God’s image, and he/she is wonderfully gifted.
(Psa 139:13)-18 For You have possessed my inward parts; You have covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are marvelous and my soul knows it very well. My bones were not hidden from You when I was made in secret and skillfully formed in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my embryo; and in Your book all my members were written, the days they were formed, and not one was among them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.
Mankind fell into sin, darkness, and blindness. Therefore, man doesn’t understand himself until the light comes on.
Mankind made in the likeness of God; we are created a little lower than God (Elohim).
Psalm 8:5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, (Hebrew, Elohim) And You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 All sheep and oxen—Even the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the air, And the fish of the sea That pass through the paths of the seas

MANKIND IS CREATED FOR GOD.
This is the order: the universe was created for the earth; the earth was created for mankind and mankind was created for God.
So what was it that God created in His own image? The soul. God created the spirit of man in His own image. Did you know that there are certain characteristics that are found in the Spirit of God which are also found in the spirit of man? These three features that God placed in the spirit of man are as follows:
One: God gave man a (spirit), so that he could know God.
Two: God gave man a soul (emotions), so that he could love God. ( agape love is from your spirit)
Three: God gave man a will (freedom of choice), so that he could obey God.
We bear fruit of the IMAGE we bear. On the 6th Day the Lord God made man &
beast. Either we are walking in the upright IMAGE of GOD for DOMINION or we are being DOMINATED in life as beasts, {Creature vs. CREATOR}.
If from the creature, we are dominated by the 5 senses { John 4, the Woman with 5 husbands or the 5 senses.}. This is flesh, 5 senses.
(John 4:17-18) The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband. In that you spoke truly.
If we are dominated by the real CREATOR, walking the upright image of God we release the ELOHIM God!
(1Jn 4:17) In this is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment, that as He is, so also we are in this world.
An Analogy Computer
Electricity: Spirit

John 4:24-God is a Spirit: So are we, the true you.
Spirit (pneuma): Eternal aspect of a man’s person, just like God, holy and whole; contains the faith of Jesus Christ; agape love; righteousness, peace and joy.(where we commune and fellowship with God)
Soul(psyche)= Intellectual and mental aspect of a man. Repository of information and experiences gained through the sensory gates of the physical body. Can forget and dump information as time passes, therefore in constant state of change and development. Possesses moral attributes based upon emotional development, shaped by perception of reality (faith and belief), information, and experiences.
Body= Physical aspect of a man. Possesses sensory gates into the mind which interact and relate to the physical world. Will die and decay unless glorified.
We are spirit, soul and body. God placed in the soul of man a mind, emotions and a will. Let us consider what this means.
1.) First, God gave man a mind capable of knowing God and thinking as God thinks. God created man with such a powerful mind, because He planned for man to have close fellowship with Himself. When we read about the life of the prophet of God, Abraham, we will see that he was called the friend of God. Abraham knew God personally and had a close relationship with Him. However, Abraham is not the only one who has been offered the privilege of being the friend of God. We too are “friends of God.” God wants us to have close fellowship with Him.
As the Body of Christ we have the mind of Christ.
2.) God placed something else in the spirit of man when He created him in His image. A heart. The heart is the mind of the spirit. God gave man a heart so that he could love God. We are not talking about the heart that pumps blood, but about what you feel in your soul, your emotions, and your thoughts. We are talking about the very intentions of your heart. God gave the first man the capacity to feel the emotions that God Himself feels.
3.) There is something else that God gave to man, whom He created in His own image. He placed in the soul of man a will. God permits every person to choose his own path. God Himself has authority to choose whether He will do something or not. Thus, God created man with the right and responsibility to make important choices for himself. God could have created man so that he would (automatically) do His will, and not have any choice in the matter. However, God gave to man a free will and the responsibility to choose for himself whether to obey God. God did not want to create a mere machine (robot).
4) We are designed to rule and reign, the dominion mandate.
Mankind as a vice-regent of creation was to subdue the earth and bring it under his subjection.
Personality
According to Joseph LeDoux, a neuroscientist at New York University:
“We have no idea how our brains make us who we are. There is as yet no neuroscience of personality. We have little understanding of how art and history are experienced by the brain. The meltdown of mental life in psychosis is still a mystery. In short, we have yet to come up with a theory that can pull all this together.”
Abstract thinking
Is the human brain that much different from that of our closest “relatives,” the chimpanzees? According to Daniel J. Povinelli, from the University of Louisiana’s New Iberia Research Center
“Humans constantly invoke unobservable phenomena and variables to explain why certain things are happening. Chimps operate in the world of concrete, tangible things that can be seen. The content of their minds is about the observable world.”
In the Torah, in the book of Genesis, in the first chapter, in verse twenty-six, the Word of God says,
“The Lord {“YHWH” in Hebrew; The Everlasting One } said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.’ So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Gen. 1:26,27)
We have before us a profound and awesome truth that everyone needs to understand: God created the mankind in His own image! Think of it! God made mankind to be like Him! Truly, mankind is the most important creature among all the creatures that God made. Only mankind was created in the image of God.
In the human body, there are more than seventy thousand-thousand-thousand-thousand (70 trillion) parts we call cells. And all those parts are woven together and designed to function in perfect harmony. The human body is a miracle! In our bodies, God has placed the brain, heart, lungs, stomach, liver, intestines, bones, muscles, skin, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and many, many other amazing parts. Every part “knows” its role. Only God could have created it! That is why the prophet David also wrote, “Lord, I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well!” (Psa. 139:14)
Yes, the human body is an incredible wonder! Yet was it the body that God created in His own image? No! This cannot be, because God is spirit. God did not create the physical form of man in His own image. What then does the Scripture mean when it tells us that “God created man in His own image?” It means that God created the spirit of man in His image. Of course, Jesus Christ now has a glorified body.
Dominion Mandate restored:
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it ;( GUARD, PROTECT, And PUT A HEDGE ABOUT THE EARTH)have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth…..
(Lev 26:9) For I will have respect to you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish My covenant with you.
Then God blessed them…….
Bless- Hebrew –barak (H1288)- the beneficial endowment of God’s power to produce well-being (happiness) in every area of a person’s life. This was the first act of God; He blessed mankind.
Genesis 1:28 Then God blessed them…………………………..
Jesus first act was:
(Mat 5:1-3a) And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain. And when He had sat down, His disciples came to Him. And He opened His mouth and taught them, saying,
Blessed are ………………………………….
THIRD DAY – Kingdom Dominion-
The book of Genesis contains the seedbed of Biblical truth. The garden became the birthplace of the whole shebang! All creation and all nations began in the garden. Eternal principles such as seed time and harvest began there. Civilization emerged on the sixth day when mankind (both male and female) was made in the image and likeness of God (Gen. 1:27).
Be fruitful – grow, reproduce after own kind. To produce again, or bring into existence, to make offspring of its own kind.
Multiply – increase, become numerous.
Fill the earth – replenish, fill to abundance, to satisfy
Subdue it – conquer, bring under subjection, tread down.
Have dominion – to reign over, take rule over everything that lives.
* This imprint of God’s image was distorted at the fall.
Jesus died to RESTORE this EDENIC condition: Redemption is what took Christianity out of the realms of religion and philosophy and made it a living reality. Redemption means “to restore” or to “buy back” or to put back the way it was before. We need the character strength and resolve to access what is our inheritance We must not ignore the total work of the cross which ultimately brings us back to the privilege of Eden (which means God’s delight). Redemption enables humankind (the new creation) to return to this spiritual IMAGE and intent of God. These are not just words and thoughts, this is a way of life!
Fruitfulness – To bring forth others of the same kind. The ministry of the Apostle brings into existence the reproduction and replication of God’s likeness and image. (The husbandman patiently waits for fruit (James 5:7) — the produce of the Tree of Life).
Multiplication – The act of increase is predicated upon the prophetic ministry calling God’s plan into being.
Filling the earth – The action of filling the earth with believers is accomplished by the Evangelists.
Subduing – The pastor leads the congregation into conquering the soul realm and bringing carnality and every evil work into subjection.
Dominion – The teacher reveals the rhema information necessary for the believer to transform the mind and accomplish dominion.
DOMINION/AUTHORITY IN THE KINGDOM
DEFINITION: Dominion—KJ- DOMINION, 1. Sovereign or supreme authority; the power of governing and controlling. The dominion of the Most High is an everlasting dominion. Daniel 4. 2. Power to direct, control, use and dispose of at pleasure; right of possession and use without being accountable; as the private dominion of individuals. 3. Territory under a government; region; country; district governed, or within the limits of the authority of a prince or state; as the British dominions. 4. Government; right of governing. Jamaica is under the dominion of Great Britain. 5. Predominance; ascendant. 6. An order of angels. Whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers. Colossians 1. 7. Persons governed. Judah was his sanctuary; Israel his dominion.
Definition: Authority–The term translated authority in the scripture is Strong’s word 1849 “exousia.” It is very interesting that it is not only translated “authority,” but it is also translated “power.” God’s authority is absolute and unconditional (Ps. 29:10; Isaiah 40).
HE (JESUS CHRIST) HAS AUTHORITY : (Jesus Christ has the same intrinsic authority as the Father (John 10:25–30), although this authority is said to be given to Christ from His Father, just as the authority of the Holy Spirit is given to Him from the Father and the Son (John 14:26; 15:26; 16:13–15).
- over nature (Job 38)
- governments (Dan. 4:17, 34–35),
- and history (Acts 1:7; 17:24–31);
- to forgive sins (John 5:26–27),
- had authority to lay down His life and take it up again (John 10:17–18),
- and to give eternal life (John 17:2).
Man has dominion/authority:
- over nature/earth
- over your household
- to forgive (remit or retain sin)
(John 20:23) Of whomever sins you remit, they are remitted to them. Of whomever sins you retain, they are retained.
- over principalities and powers ( creeps, lol, everything that creeps on the earth)

OPPOSED TO FALSE POSITION |
Dominion/Authority was given here in Gen. 1:28.
Many scholars claim that when Adam sinned, he not only lost his dominion but apparently transferred it to satan. This can be seen from the incident in which the devil took Christ up to the high mountain. satan called the Lord’s attention to the fact that the kingdoms of this world had been delivered to him.
(Luke 4:5-6) And the Devil, leading Him up into a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the Devil said to Him, All this power I will give you, and the glory of them; for it has been delivered to me. And I give it to whomever I will.
Notice what Christ said to him:
(Luke 4:7-8) Therefore if you will worship me, all shall be yours. And Jesus answered and said to him, Get behind me, Satan! For it is written, “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.”
I claim the devil assumed authority that was not his. He is illegal on this earth.
(John 10:1) Truly, truly, I say to you, He who does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.
(John 10:7-11) Then Jesus said to them again, Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he shall be saved and shall go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy. I have come so that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
Genesis 9:1 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth.
NOTICE THE DIFFRENCE IN WHAT GOD TOLD MANKIND, BEFORE THE FALL AND NOAH AFTER THE FALL.
Fruitfulness confirmed in the Law: (Lev 26:9) For I will have respect to you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, and establish My covenant with you.
Dominion/Authority was given here in Gen. 1:28.
Review & Summary of Mankind Made in the Image of God
We are like God in the following ways:
- Ability to reason, intellect (spirit wisdom)- Genesis 2:19-20 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
- Personality –1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
- Senses –Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
- Speaking – Mark 11:23 “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. One translation of Gen 2:7 says “ And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a speaking spirit.”
- Eternal life – John 3:16“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Of course, God is eternal, Alpha and Omega, beginning and the End.
- Right to choose – Genesis 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
- Renewed- Mankind redeemed and restored ( God doesn’t need restoration but His mercies are new every morning, He makes all things new) – Romans 10:8-9 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Authority and dominion- Psalm 8:5-6 For You have made him a little lower than the angels,(Elohim) And You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.
We are the very image of His Son; when God looks at us He sees Himself.
We are little spirits, little lords under the Lords of Lords.
(Heb 1:1-3) God, who at many times and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds, who being the shining splendor of His glory, and the express image of His essence, and upholding all things by the word of His power, through Himself cleansing of our sins, He sat down on the right of the Majesty on high,
In the man Jesus Christ mankind has gone full circle! Of God’s doing are we in Christ! 1 Cor 1:30 Fully associated, included and reconciled in him! Co-crucified; co-died; co-descended; co-quickened; co-raised; co-ascended; co-seated in heavenly places and now, co-revealed for all of mankind to see together! The original life our design from before time began is redeemed again!
Col 3:1-4 Mirror Bible: Pursue with diligence the consequence of your co-inclusion in Christ. Relocate yourself mentally! His resurrection co-raised you to the same position of authority, seated in the strength of God’s right hand. Becoming affectionately acquainted with Throne Room thoughts will keep you from being distracted again by the earthly (soul-ruled) realm. Your union with His death broke the association with that world; the secret of your life now is the fact that you are wrapped up with Christ in God. Every time Christ is revealed as our life, we are being co-revealed in the same glory (likeness and image of God) being united together with Him.
THAT IS GOOD NEWS!!
(Isa 40:5) and the glory of Jehovah shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.
In conclusion of the creation of mankind:
Saint Augustine born in 354 in North Africa said: ‘and Who is that God but our God, the God Who made heaven and earth, Who filled them because it was by filling them with Himself that He has made them. Paul quotes a Greek Philosopher, Aratus (300 BC) who said, “In Him we live and move and have our being! We are indeed His offspring!″Man began in God. He is the Genesis and conclusion of all things. The Alpha and the Omega. For from Him and through Him and unto Him are all things .Jesus is both His original and final Word. John 1:1, Heb.1:1-3. and we are in Him who is true…1John 5:20, John 14:20.
Brief Summary of the creation of mankind.
God CREATES things in spirit before He FORMS or manifests them in the natural realm. He separated light from darkness the first day, yet it wasn’t till the fourth day that He made the sun, moon and stars. And just like the Father CREATED mankind in Genesis chapter One but didn’t FORM a bodily man till chapter Two; we were created in Christ before we were FORMED in the womb. The word translated as create in Genesis One is bara in Hebrew, giving the idea of creating something out of nothing. The Father SPOKE mankind (little spirits) into existence. The word translated as formed is Genesis Two is yatsar in Hebrew meaning to squeeze or mold into a form. The Father molded this man from the earth. The substance of mankind in Genesis One was spirit or breath (same word in Hebrew-ruach) as God SPOKE. The substance of the man in Genesis Two was earth.
These two men found complete expression in the Man Christ Jesus as He is the Last Adam. Jesus Christ was the LAST Adam, and He formed a perfect union of being a Spirit-Man manifested in a natural / physical body, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”(John 1:14). He was the LAST Adam so that WE may become the Second Man – Christ manifest in His many-membered Body; “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”(1 Corinthians 12:12). We are no longer IN Adam as Jesus Christ was the LAST Adam; our true identity is created IN Christ!
As God’s image bearers, we received His creativity, goodness and character. We are to reflect that into the world.
Genesis 1:29-31 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.30 “Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so.31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. (7 times)So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
Who was God talking to here? To Adam and Eve or to a mankind? He was talking to you and me, all of us.
Related Scriptures:
(Psa 104:14) He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for the service of man, to bring forth food out of the earth,
(Psa 145:15) The eyes of all wait on You; and You give them their food in due season.
(Psa 104:24) O Jehovah, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your riches.
All of Psalms 104 is a recapitulation of creation in poetic form.
Notice that only plant life was given for food.
God’s Original Menu to Mankind
“I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food.” Genesis 1:29 Includes all grains, vegetables with seeds (beans, legumes, sesame, corn, etc.) nuts and fruits. Adam and Eve were vegans. Those who lived prior to the Flood had life spans approaching 1000 years.
Evidently all the food contained all the nutrients needed for health as well as all essential proteins, not true after the flood. Meat was eaten after the flood.
God said: VERY GOOD
Everything God makes is good… At each step of creation, God sees that it is “good.” Here, at the completion of creation, he declares it “very good.” The creation of mankind was very good to God.
(Psa 104:24) O Jehovah, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your riches.
(1Ti 4:4) For every creation of God is good, and nothing to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving.
Rabbi Joseph Telushkin believes, in Biblical Literacy, his book explaining the most important people, events, and ideas of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament), that God’s view of His creation is optimistic. As good as it was, it was, however, unfinished. Scholars of the Talmud have deduced from God’s ceasing to create, that it is our mission to continue the work and perfect the world.
Much Debated Concept in Genesis
How Long Were the Creation Days?
Scripture is not clear. You will hear debate and opinion from many.
Four Possibilities for Genesis 1 (time periods)
- Creationists—literal seven days, 24 hour periods. Young Earth. 0-10,000 years old, maximum.
- Day Age Theory—each day is an indefinite period of time. Scriptures such as:(2Pe 3:8) But, beloved, let not this one thing be hidden from you, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
- Special Creation—God’s use of evolution. (disproved) Man is a distinct and special creation.
- The Gap Theory (Re-Creationist) Catastrophe and undisclosed length of time between verses 1 and 2.a.
So there are a lot of questions about the length of creation days?
Did God create over billions of years?
Could the days in Genesis be long periods of time?
Or was it 6- 24 hour periods?
Genesis Chapter 2:
INTRODUCTION – The descriptions of parts of the creation in chapter two of Genesis have led some Bible critics to claim that it was a later addition, written by someone other than Moses. They base this claim on the expansion of some details of chapter one, but scholars who are faithful to their self-imposed task of careful interpretation of the manuscripts have replied to the critics by saying that Moses merely supplied additional information to support the brief accounts of creation in chapter one.
7TH DAY- FINISHED WORK-SABBATH REST
Genesis 2:1-2 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
All the host of them….who is God talking to? US. Adam was not formed yet.
FINISHED WORK:
God finished His work, a perfect world.
Jesus, however had to refinish the work, (bring a final finish) and bring restoration because of sin. (John 4:34) Jesus said to them, My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.
And on the cross He said, It is Finished!” (John 19:30). In Revelation John quotes- “It is done.” (Rev. 21:6)
Gen. 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Many things were accomplished from the foundation of the world.
(Mat 25:34) Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
(Eph 1:4) According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
(Heb 4:3) For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
(1Pe 1:20) Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
(Rev 13:8) And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
(Rev 17:8) The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The Father’s Desire Before Creation
The gospels and the epistles are full of: “before the beginning of time,” “before time began,” before the foundations of the earth/world, and “before the creation of the world.”
Difference between earth and world.
Earth—terra firma-firm or solid earth; dry land
World- kosmos-2889 kósmos (literally, “something ordered”) – properly, an “ordered system” (like the universe, creation); the world.
World system-A world-system is a socioeconomic system that encompasses part or all of the globe.
What did God purpose before He created anything?
God’s Pre-Creation Plan Concerning Christ
1 Peter 1:19-20: “BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD,” God chose “Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” to be “manifest in these last times for you.”
LAMB SLAIN
(Rev 13:8) And all dwelling on the earth will worship it, those whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain, from the foundation of the world.
The pre-chosen Lamb was God’s insurance that His intention would be fulfilled for Himself and therefore for man as well.
Ephesians 1:4,9-10. “BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD” God determined that He would “gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth.” Supremacy was to be His in all things:
“[Christ] is the beginning and the firstborn from the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” (Colossians 1:8)
God’s Pre-Creation Plan Concerning Mankind
We often speak of “God’s plan for my life” without thinking of when He determined it. Before Adam existed, God had a single plan and a purpose for every man who would ever be born.
Titus 1:1-3. “BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN” God determined to give fallen man “the truth which is after godliness, in hope of eternal life.” This would be given “in due times.” Paul is referring to the knowledge of God on which true faith is based. In addition, God wanted His creature to know who he was and what God wanted him to be. This revelation, which could only come through knowing God and His purpose, would bring man to an intimate union with God, which is eternal life.
1 John 1:1-4. “THAT WHICH WAS FROM THE BEGINNING, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched; this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.” The Church is to proclaim the full revelation of Christ, “that which was from the beginning.” He is the only word of life there is, as declared by Peter:
John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Colossians 1:25-26. “FROM AGES AND FROM GENERATIONS” the entire mystery of God “hath been hid.” Finally, though, God revealed the Lamb and commissioned Paul to “present to you the word of God in its fullness–the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations,” referring to that mystery of Christ from before Genesis all the way to Revelation. Paul wants the Church to understand this revelation of Christ so that we have the right perspective on the place of the gospel message in the entire plan.
Ephesians 1:4-5. “BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD” God “hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.” God had determined that all who believed in Christ as related in the gospel message would be adopted as His sons. They would be made holy as the Lamb was holy. The Father’s eternal purpose was that He simply wanted a corporate body of sons after the image of the firstborn.
2 Timothy 1:9. “BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN” God delivered, saved and called us “with an holy calling.” He did this “according to his own purpose and grace.” This grace was given us in Christ Jesus” before world began.”
2 Thessalonians 2:13-15. “FROM THE BEGINNING” God chose us “to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: . . . to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 3:9,11. “FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD” God planned to manifest His hidden wisdom that “the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.” He wanted this done “According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Paul was commissioned “to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery,” that through the Lamb’s death and resurrection, the Jews and Gentiles would be united into one body (vv. 4-6) with Christ exalted over all. In Christ, God accomplished that purpose so all men who believed could be adopted as His sons through their faith in Christ.
Romans 16:25,27. “SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN” God purposed that the Church be established by the “gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith.” This is very important because it is what God intended for the Church on earth. We are to be established by and then proclaim the now revealed gospel so the people of all nations have the opportunity to accept God’s offer to adopt them as His sons by grace, through faith.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8. “BEFORE THE WORLD” God had within Himself “hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.” All who accept the faith and knowledge referred to in Titus 1:1-3 (above) would share in His glory.
Matthew 25:34. “FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD” the Father had His kingdom prepared as part of our inheritance. Notice that the Father has already done this. If we were given the responsibility of setting up that kingdom now for Christ to return, we would be establishing our own inheritance. God’s “works were finished from the foundation of the world” (Heb 4:3).
These scriptures tell us what God determined to do before He created anything. This is what God wanted for His own pleasure and satisfaction. It would serve as His standard for His work in the earth until His plan was completed and His purposes fulfilled. Let’s recap these points as an aid to discerning the many activities of today s Church.
BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD:
- God had a plan that He would follow with an ultimate purpose in mind.
- Following His plan, He would work out everything according to the purpose of His will for His own satisfaction.
THE LAMB BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD:
- The holy, chosen Lamb was with the Father.
- The Lamb is to be exalted over all things.
GOD’S PURPOSE IN CREATING MANKIND:
- For His own pleasure and satisfaction, God willed that He would have a family of adopted sons created after the image of the firstborn, the Lamb. In this corporate body of adopted sons, the greatness of the glory of His unique Son would be exalted.
- When mankind fell, God would restore him to holiness by grace because mankind on his own would be unable to bring about that restoration. This inability on mankind’s part was part of God’s plan. Again, God would bring about this restoration “because of his own purpose and grace.”
- God promised to give mankind, in His appointed season, a faith and a knowledge that would rest on the hope of eternal life.
- All who accept that knowledge by faith would be destined for glory.
- God would sanctify us by the Spirit and the word so one day we will be glorified as sons.
- God manifested His wisdom through the church to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- The mystery, once revealed, was to be shared in its fullness so man could cooperate with God in bringing about His ultimate purpose.
- The Church is to be established by, and then proclaim, the gospel. In that way, the nations (the people) can accept God’s offer to adopt them as His sons by grace through faith.
- The Church would be commissioned to proclaim the fullness of God’s word, the full revelation of Christ, that which was from the beginning before the world began.
- All who believe would inherit a kingdom that the Father has already prepared for them.
- In the end, in that visible kingdom, Christ would be exalted over the many sons brought to glory.
We as believers know everything that was ours before the foundations of time, when we were totally whole, can be called forth for ourselves into the NOW, and as we frame it in Jesus’ Name, it is ours NOW. Just as Jesus was slain for us from the foundations of time and He had it all done for mankind, He had to come at an appointed time to earth to fulfill it in the NOW time that was made for man.
Gen.2:1-4 Cont.’:
(Gen 2:1) And the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made. And He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He had rested from all His work which God created to make. These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in the day that Jehovah God made the earth and the heavens.
SOME SABBATH SCRIPTURES
Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27; Hebrews 4:4,
Ex.20:-8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates.11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
Mark2:27 And He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.
Hebrews4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
According to rabbinical literature, in Genesis 2:1, when God finished the heavens and the earth, He then made it permanent. During those six days while God was creating, there was instability all around. Nothing had been made permanent as God determined if this plan would work.
Then, in Genesis 2:2, where it says, “God ended His work,” we find the Hebrew word vayinafash, which means soul. Rabbis teach that when God stopped creating on the Sabbath, the life source was brought down into each level of creation and became fixed there within its permanent fashion. Before the Sabbath came, the world literally stood by like a body without a soul, and every aspect of creation was without the inner essence of life. The holy Sabbath day brought the soul of creation, and through it, existence became whole.
God did not simply ‘stop’ or ‘rest,’ He stopped/rested from all His work.
There was nothing to add to what God had done, and he entered a rest from creating, a rest marked by the knowledge that everything that he had made was very good (Genesis 1:31). So we should think of the rest as something like the satisfaction that comes from accomplishment, from the completion of a task, from the exercise of creativity.’
There is also a sense in which entering the Kingdom of God implies a ceasing from one’s own work and resting securely on what Christ has done. Indeed, Jesus Himself spoke about rest for the souls of men (Matthew 11:28–30).
We are not under the law, however God instituted a Sabbath rest for our sake. So whatever day you observe (much debate over this). The body and soul need a day of rest.
Where there is lack of Sabbath, there will be an abundance of stress. The human body was created to experience stress and to react to it. Stress can be positive, keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger. But if a person continues to experience stress without relief or relaxation between challenges, it becomes negative stress. Negative stress without relief leads to distress, which then affects your natural body. The body under constant distress leads to physical conditions, including headaches, upset stomach, elevated blood pressure, chest pain and problems sleeping.
SEVEN. Denotes spiritual perfection. It is the number or hall-mark of the Holy Spirit’s work. He is the Author of God’s Word, and seven is stamped on it as the water-mark is seen in the manufacture of paper. He is the Author and Giver of life; and seven is the number which regulates every period of Incubation and Gestation, in insects, birds, animals, and man.

DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3 DAY 4 DAY 5 DAY 6 DAY 7
JEWISH Calendar–5775
We are in the 3RD DAY and coming into the 7TH DAY Prophetically in God’s kairos Time
Kairos” is considered to be God’s time and is not necessarily limited to man’s time at all, but is a happening, an event or an occasion. It is a set or proper time (period) for something to happen designated by God (emphasis is made again not to confuse man’s time with God’s time). By scripture we can ascertain that “Kairos” time can also be described as a location or a changing spiritual position in God.
Symbolic Creation Days According to Number:
ONE. Denotes unity, and commencement. The first occurrences of words or utterances denote their essential significance, in interpretation. Words that occur only once, in the originals, are emphatic and important. First day, Light.
TWO. Denotes difference. If two different persons agree in testimony it is conclusive. Otherwise two implies opposition, enmity, and division, as was the work of the Second day. Compare the use of the word “double“ applied to “heart“, “tongue“, “mind“, etc.
THREE. Denotes completeness, as three lines complete a plane figure. Hence, three is significant of Divine perfection and completeness. The third day completes the fundamentals of creation-work. The fourth, fifth, and sixth days are the counterpart and repetition of the first, second, and third, and correspond respectively. (See the structure of Genesis 1) The number, three, includes resurrection also; for on the third day the earth rose up out of the deep, and fruit rose up out of the earth.
FOUR. Denotes creative works (3 + 1), and always has reference to the material creation, as pertaining to the earth, and things “under the sun“, and things terrestrial.
SIX. Denotes the human number. Mankind was created on the sixth day; and this first occurrence of the number makes it (and all multiples of it) the hall-mark of all connected with mankind. He worked six days. The hours of his day are a multiple of six.
Jesus Christ is the SABBATH FULFILLED.
SABBATH IS FULFILLED IN JESUS CHRIST
Colossians 2:14,16-17 states: “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross… Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holiday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
The Old Testament SABBATH was a CEREMONIAL LAW, which pictured Jesus Christ, in whom we rest for the salvation of our souls. This is evidenced by Hebrews 4:2-4, which state…
“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.”
Jesus Christ is our Sabbath/Rest
The key to all of scripture, both Old and New Testaments is Jesus, in all that He truly is and completed in His finished work. Jesus fulfilled EVERYTHING in scripture. He fulfilled the Law and the prophets. He fulfilled the blessings and the curses. He fulfilled the promises and covenants. He fulfilled all the terrible judgments and slaughters and outrages of the OT. He fulfilled the child beatings of Proverbs. He even fulfilled the vanities of all vanities of Ecclesiastes. He fulfilled the Sabbath.
Galatians 4:9 “But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?” 10 “Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.” 11 “I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.”
In Galatians, Paul refers to the observing of days (which would include the keeping of the Sabbath) as one of the “weak and beggarly elements” which put men in “bondage.” He is fearful (as he says in many ways throughout the book of Galatians) that they are ready to return to the bondage of Judaism after Jesus Christ has made them free.
(Gal 5:1) Stand fast therefore in the liberty with which Christ has made us free, and do not again be held with the yoke of bondage.
The True Meaning of Sabbath RestHow does the Christian rest in Christ? |
The short answer to this question is that we rest in Him by resting from our own self-effort to try to make ourselves righteous before God, before salvation and after. Instead, we trust in His completed work. He has accomplished everything necessary to reconcile God to man and to make us acceptable in God’s sight.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and your will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. “ – Matthew 11:28-30
Paul wrote in Galatians 2:21 – “I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.” We receive righteousness as a gift! – Romans 5:17.
Many Christians believed that they are saved by grace alone but sanctified by keeping the Law. This is mixing Law and grace and is will lead to frustrated Christian living. Christ has redeemed us from the law. Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”),
Hebrews 3:7 – 4:11 reminds us that the Israelites did not enter the land of God’s rest – the Promised Land – because they simply would not believe that God had already given it to them! They refused to trust in God’s promise to them and enter the land that was theirs. They did not enter simply because they could not believe that “it was finished” – a done deal.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God – us! How do we enter? By resting from our own works and trusting that when Jesus said, “It is finished!” that He meant it. Christ has freed us from the yoke of slavery – the Law – Galatians 5:1. Why? Because He knew that no man could keep it. We are now yoked to Him in union. And He says that His yoke is easy! Why? Because He does all the work!
“For by one offering (Christ) He (God) has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.” – Hebrews 10:14.
ENTERING INTO A FAITH REST
James 1:3-4 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
Romans 4:4-5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,
All of God’s miraculous power flows through the believer who enters into the supernatural dimension as described in this promise:
Hebrews 4:10For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
Walking by faith is a skill that has to be practiced.
2 Corinthians 5:7For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Faith rest is flying by IFR instead of VFR (instrument flight rules instead of visual flight rules)
Faith rest is:
|
The Most Holy Place is the REST of God where God sat in His own circumference with His own completeness and perfection of doing works. (works are finished)
This is a preserved place of Rest of God. {7th day of Rest}. There is indeed a dimension of God in His Oneself; we being One with Him.
PSALM 24:3-6 There is a mountain of God to be climbed…… Old Covenant–
(Psa 24:3-6) Who shall go up into the hill of Jehovah? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul to vanity, and has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from Jehovah, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face, O God of Jacob. Selah.
New Covenant: (Heb 4:9-11) So then there remains a rest to the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief.
Mankind is still trying to reach God’s glory at day 6, and is impossible. Mankind need to be shifted to that dimension, 7th day of rest. Not by hard prayers or hard works. But by resting in the LORD. From day 6 (man with works) to day 7 (mankind with God at rest).
Faith Rest Cont.’
(Heb 4:4-11) For He spoke in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested the seventh day from all His works.” And in this place again, “They shall not enter into My rest. “Since then it remains that some must enter into it, and since they to whom it was first preached did not enter in because of unbelief, He again marks out a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” (after so long a time). Even as it is said, “Today, if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.” For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. So then there remains a rest to the people of God. For he who has entered into his rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His. Therefore let us labor to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of unbelief.
Again, a faith rest is like flying an airplane by IFR (Instrument Flight Rules). I took a few flying lessons back in the 80’s on a Cessna. One day the instructor said today you are going to fly the airplane on IFR. I really didn’t know what that meant. When we were up in the air, he put up a shield or a blinder on the windshield. Now you have to fly using the instruments only.
That’s flying by faith. The same in this life we live and move and have our being n Him and His Word. What does Scripture say ,”(2Co 5:7) for we walk by faith, not by sight;”
Remember, it is His faith! (Gal 2:20) And I live, now not I: but Christ lives in me. And that I live now in the flesh: I live in the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and delivered himself for me.
Your faith is developed in the soulish realm; you grow in that as you renew your mind.
(Deut. 33:12b-c) ………………The best beloved of the Lord shall dwell confidently in him: as in a bride chamber shall he abide all the day long, and between his shoulders shall be rest.
Review:
Should we still observe the Sabbath and What exactly is the Sabbath?
(Isa 58:13-14) If you turn your foot because of the Sabbath, from doing what you please on My holy days, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of Jehovah, honorable; and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Jehovah; and I will cause you to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed yourself with the inheritance of Jacob your father. For the mouth of Jehovah has spoken.
“Sabbath” is one of those terms we may think we understand when we do not. Let’s take a closer look at what the Sabbath is, and what it is not.
There are some marvelous insights that begin to come to our heart when we take terms that we have worn out, some that we have presumed to understand and didn’t, and begin to re-assess them and see the breadth and practicality of their meaning and most of all the release that is wrapped up in them.
Sabbath is one of those terms.Sabbath is resting from your own labors so that the Lord can work in you the work that He wants to work.
Review of Sabbath
Jesus is our SABBATH
What the Sabbath is Not:
Isaiah 58:13–14: God is not saying:
- I don’t want you to be happy—Cease “your own pleasure”—vs. 13
- I don’t want you to say anything—Cease “your own words”—vs. 13
- I don’t want you to do anything—Cease “seeking your own ways”—vs. 13
He does want us to get into the place where we can discern the difference between what He is doing in us, and not our own striving.
Introduction of the Idea of Sabbath
Genesis 2:1—3 says:
- God ended His work
- God rested from His work
- God blessed the day
- God sanctified the day
God’s Recommendation to Man
- God did not need to rest.
- God chose to rest.
- Thus, the Sabbath is unrelated to physical weariness, although rest is a benefit.
- God’s observance of a Sabbath is His unspoken recommendation to man.
Definition of Sabbath means to stop, to cease, to rest. It carries the idea of intermission or interruption. A refreshing, to catch your breath. (Ex. 31:17)
The Sabbath is/was:
- Commanded—Ex. 20:8–11: God’s commands are not grievous. These things will keep you from destroying yourself.
- Enforced—Num. 15:32—36: The Sabbath is part of relating correctly to the created order of things. It is also a way to honor the Lord.
- Directed in a Sabbath of years. One out of seven years was to be a whole year of Sabbath. Then, after forty-nine years (or seven-sevens) an additional year, the year of jubilee.
We have been in the year of Jubilee, the acceptable year of the Lord since Jesus rose from the dead.
(Luke 4:18) The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
(Luke 4:19) To preach/proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. (the year of favor)
Brief Overview of the Years of Jubilee
Luke 4:20 And He CLOSED (roll up) THE BOOK (at Isa. 61:2a), and He GAVE IT AGAIN (apodidomi = delegated authority; to the MINISTER and SAT DOWN (at the right hand of the Father). And the EYES OF ALL them that were in the synagogue were FASTENED ON (to gaze intently) Him.
Luke 4:21 And He BEGAN (archomai = to commence in order of time; to be the first in anything = as the HEAD of a BODY) to say unto them, THIS DAY IS THIS SCRIPTURE FULFILLED in your ears (I am the MESSIAH!).
Luke 4:19, KJV To PREACH the ACCEPTABLE YEAR of the LORD.
NOTE: These other translations:
To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord (NAS).
To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (NIV).
And that God is ready to give blessings to all who come to HIM (TLB).
Luke 4:19, KJV To PREACH the ACCEPTABLE YEAR of the LORD.
“ACCEPTABLE” = dektos = “approved; (figuratively) propitious” = from dechomai (to receive; subjective and passive – to have offered to one; to take with the hand; not to refuse intercourse or friendship; to receive hospitality; to receive FAVORABLY, give ear to, embrace, make one’s own, approve, not to reject; to receive, get to learn.”
“LORD” = kurios = “supreme in authority; controller; Master; the disposer of a thing.”
THE “ACCEPTABLE YEAR” IS THE YEAR OF THE LORD’S FAVOR!
NOTE: There are two primary Hebrew words for “FAVOR”:
- khane = “graciousness, subjective (kindness, favor) or objective (beauty); acceptance.”
- raw-tsone’ = “delight; pleasure, a favor, goodwill, acceptance, a will, a desire.”
The “ACCEPTABLE YEAR of the LORD” is the JUBILEE YEAR, also known as the “Year of LIBERTY!”
Ezekiel 46:17, KJV But if He (the Prince = Messiah) give a gift of His inheritance to one of His servants, then it shall be his to the YEAR OF LIBERTY; after it shall return to the prince: but His inheritance shall be his sons’ for them.
- All men were proclaimed free!
- All the prison doors were opened!
- All the slaves were released!
- All returned to his original possession (inheritance)!
Leviticus 25:8-13
The JUBILEE YEAR of the LORD’S FAVOR points to man being DELIVERED from the CURSE to return to the GLORY and DOMINION of EDEN (Gen. 1:26-28). The trumpet blew the SAME DAY that Aaron WENT BEYOND THE VEIL-a body of OVERCOMERS will follow Jesus into the Most Holy Place (Heb. 6:19-20; Rev. 12:1-5; 14:1-5). In 6,000 years there are 120 Jubilee trumpets (2 Chr. 5:12; Acts 1:15). THIS is the SEASON!
“JUBILEE” (yobel = jubilant, exult) was the 50th year after seven cycles of seven years, when specific instructions about property and slavery took effect (Lev. 25:8-55). This word is related to the one for ram’s horn or trumpet. The Jubilee “year of liberty (“freedom” – NIV)” (Ezek. 46:17) was launched with a blast from a ram’s horn on the DAY OF ATONEMENT, the TENTH day of the SEVENTH month, signifying a call to joy, liberation, and the beginning of a year in which to “proclaim liberty throughout all the land” (Lev. 25:10). Specifically, individuals who had incurred debts and had sold themselves as slaves or servants to others were released from all debt and set at liberty. Land was returned to the original owner or his lawful heirs.
One effect of the Jubilee Year was to prevent a permanent system of classes. The Jubilee Year had a leveling effect on Israel’s culture; it gave everyone a chance to start over, economically and socially.
NOTE: JESUS is our JUBILEE, our Deliverer, and our Emancipator! He is the One who through His finished work-His death, burial, and resurrection-REVERSED THE CURSE (Gal. 3:13-14) and turned the graveyard back into a Garden!
CONCLUSION:
These are the years of the Lord’s FAVOR and GRACE, His DELIGHT and PLEASURE, His FREEDOM, LIBERTY, RELEASE, and JUBILEE – the YEAR of the FLOW!
New Testament Development of the Idea of Sabbath
Jesus’ word about the Sabbath.
- The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath—Mt. 12:1–8
- The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath—Mk. 2:27
The idea of the Sabbath can be summed up in this:
Ceasing from the idea that we ever get anything accomplished solely by the works of our own hands.
How Do We Observe a Sabbath Today?
God does not have a favorite day to observe the Sabbath. Rom. 14:5, 6; Acts 15:28, 29
- The Sabbath really has nothing to do with:
- Religious observance or
- Days of worship
- The Sabbath has everything to do with:
- a) An attitude in our hearts where we recognize that the works of our hands will never get it done.
- b) Our need to learn to move in to the Lord’s rest.
Move into the Lord’s Rest—Col. 2:16, 17; Heb. 4:1—11
- Ask the Lord, “What am I to be doing?”
- Ask Him how to observe Sabbath in your personal life.
Remember that there is an element of fun and joy in Sabbath as well.
The Third Day / Seventh Day

Back to Genesis Chapter 2
Genesis 2:4- This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
Gen.2:5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground (from the fountains of the deep and water canopy over the earth).
Gen. 2:7 And the Lord God formed/yatsar man (body) of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (breath of God breathed into man, his little spirit which was formed from the foundation of the world); and man became a living being or soul. (the soul was created here, mind, will emotions; the soul was formed as a connection between the spirit and the body).
God breathed into Adam a male spirit which was created in Gen. 1:26
Hebrew Formed-3335 yatsar { yaw-tsar’} (through the squeezing into shape), AV – form, become potter, fashion, make , framed , earthenize, for purpose.
The body of Adam was formed.
Adam was created and formed from two different realms. Genesis 2:7, says that he created/formed from the combination of the dust of the ground (natural realm) and the breath of life (spiritual realm) and he became a living being or soul.
So are we, created from 2 different realms.
Job 33:4 The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Ps. 139:14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
Ec.7:29 Truly, this only I have found: That God made man upright,
GOD SPOKE IT, ENTERED INTO REST, THEN ADAM WAS FORMED.
The meaning of the name, “Adam”. This is important because an understanding of this will determine how well we understand, “Jesus The Second Adam.” The name, “Adam” is made up of two parts – – “A” and “dam”(pronounced dom). According to the Strong’s Concordance “dam” is the Hebrew word that means “blood”.
Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.
What we’re dealing with here is first things, and in particular the “first man”. “Alpha” is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and “Aleph” is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Both begin with the letter “A”. Jesus is the “first-born from the dead”, etc. You see, Jesus is eternal and therefore everything and everyone is after Him. Jesus was before anything or anyone else was. In John 8:58 He told a group of non-believing Jews, “Before Abraham was, I am”. So here in Revelation 1:8 He’s informing us that He’s the “First” – – He’s the “Alpha” – – He’s the “Aleph” – – and I believe He’s telling us that He’s also the “A” in “Adam”. Therefore I believe that “A” means “God”. If I’m right about this, then it would follow that the meaning of the name, “Adam” is: “Pure, holy, and uncorrupted God provided blood.” And like everything else God provides is perfect, so was Adam’s blood and the blood He provided for anyone else afterward!
The Strong’s Concordance says the name “Adam” means, “ruddy; a human being; to show blood; flush or turn rosy: – – be red.” But in my opinion, that “red” is simply Adam’s appearance which is manifested from the color of his “blood”. I believe the source of his blood (God – not man) of Adam’s blood is revealed in his name. Even though the Strong’s Concordance doesn’t mention “God”, Adam’s blood had to have been provided by God, and God alone, since there is absolutely no other possible source.
Adam( ADD um) red, to show blood, flush o turn rosy, ground—
The first bodily man created by God after the 7th day of creation, placed in the Garden of Eden, the ancestor of all people on earth. Bodily, genetically, we all come from Adam. All colors were in him. Did you know that 99.9% of our DNA is the same. What makes you and me different bodily is the .1%.
God breathed into Adam’s body the Divine breath of life and he became a living soul.
Types and Shadows of Jesus Christ- Yeshua Ha Messiah
- Adam is a ‘type’ of Christ, as is Melchisedech, Moses, Boaz, and King David.
Gen.2:8 The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, (Hebrew, paradise, bliss, delight) and there He put the man whom He had formed.
This Creator God has prepared a place in which to place His created masterpiece, Mankind. Once the process was complete, God walked in the garden with Adam and Eve [Gen 2:28]. Mankind, made in the image of God, heard God say, “Now, live in my presence and worship me – for that is your chief end. Increase and fill the world with worshippers.”
The man upon awakening to the consciousness of life, found himself in a Garden of unsurpassed beauty which the Lord had prepared for him.
The Garden planted by God needed tending and care. No insecticides or herbicides were needed, nor was the Garden infested with thorns, thistles and weeds of any kind. Until the result of the curse, such did not exist.
THEORITICALLY, THE LOCATION OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN WAS SOMEWHERE IN LOWER MESOPOTAMIA WHAT IS TODAY SOUTHERN IRAQ (MAP)
Gen.2:9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge (awareness) of good and evil.
Evidently these were literal trees, various in kind, yielding their fruits at successive seasons, giving Adam and Eve a balanced diet year round. They have much symbolic meaning as well.
Before the flood mankind were vegans; fruit and nuts provided all the essential proteins which is not so now.
The climate was moderate and refreshing. There were no storms until after the curse and Noah. The earth was watered from a midst coming from the ground. We will discover more about this and the fountains of the deep later in study.
(Gen 2:5-6) And every shrub of the field was not yet on the earth, and every plant of the field had not yet sprung up, for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground. But there went up from the earth a mist and watered all the face of the ground.
There was a canopy over the earth (Gen 1:6-8) The earth’s waters were divided, raqiya, visible dome of the sky (technically the atmosphere immediately above the earth, water canopy), and fountains in the deep of the earth.
The name Garden of Eden means garden of His delight.
The word Eden in Hebrew means “delight” or “enjoyment”—it was a garden of delight or enjoyment. When the Septuagint Version was produced, its translators used the Greek word for “parkland” for Eden, from which came the word “paradise.” In the Old Testament, Eden is often a symbol of great fertility, a place where things would grow. In other words, its environment was not only beautiful but also useful for producing things. In this case, God had in mind not merely an environment for vegetation, but for a relationship through fellowship—between God and Adam and Eve, who represented all of mankind. Spiritually, Eden symbolizes a rich and fertile place of unbroken fellowship. |
SYMBOLICALLY THE TREE OF LIFE IS JESUS (ETERNAL LIFE AND GRACE)
In the Garden of Eden, the Tree of Life is the Word who is our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ, the Christ life for you and me, us redeemed.
(John 1:14) And the Word became flesh, and tabernacled among us. And we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and of truth.
Therefore the Tree of Life is His matchless character and graciousness, His character and fruit of His nature, the fruit of abundant life and rest.
Revelation 2:7; 22:2,14
Rev.2:7 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” ’
Rev.22:2 In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Rev.2:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right tothe tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
TREE OF THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL (Powerful Biblical example of the law, death, flesh, self-centeredness, source of satan’s power. It either drives us to an identity based upon performance (good) or corruption or self-righteousness, both which lead to death. (evil)
Good- H2895-tobe-seemingly good, what seems good to self, the fruit of this is self effort.Things you do seemingly can be good but not always God directed.
Evil- H7451-raraah- wretchedness-Greek-poneros- fruit of evil is hardships, annoyances, pain and labor.
Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father, As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die.
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
More insight symbolically on the trees:
THERE WERE TWO 2 TREES IN THE GARDEN (Gen 2:9) And out of the ground the Lord God caused to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food. The tree of life also was in the middle of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
WE MAKE A CHOICE EVERYDAY in our thought life and in our words and deeds.
Tree of Life- FAITH
Jesus is the Tree of Life;Grace and mercy (fruit of the Spirit-LOVE); Source of (Zoe)Life–The Word is Spirit and Life 2 Cor. 3:6
Ministry of Reconciliation–2 Cor. 5:18
Fruit of this Tree-Gal. 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil- FEAR

Review Forming of Adam:
The Differences Between the Two Events | |
In Genesis Chapter OneThey (little spirits) all (plural) were CREATED. Created is Hebrew word #1254 bara’ “…male and female created he them” (Gen 1:27) |
But in Genesis Chapter TwoAdam alone (singular) is FORMED Formed is Hebrew word #3335 yatsar “…in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” (Gen 2:8) |
They are created male and female at the same time. No ‘Adam’s chamber’ here! | Adam is formed some time before Eve. They both were called Adam. Eve later being made from him. |
They(little spirits) were simply created, | Adam given the breath of life, became a living soul. (Adam would have lived forever had he not fell (no access to tree of life)- see Gen 6:3 “for that he also is flesh”). |
They are told to multiply. “…Be fruitful and multiply…” (Gen 1:28) |
(Adam’s family was told to multiply after the flood; i.e., Noah’s family was told in Gen 9:1). |
Mankind given dominion over animals and fish. | Adam was a farmer, still had dominion. |
The animals were created. No names given. | The animals were brought to Adam; Adam named these. |
There was not yet moisture. | “…went up a mist from the earth…”(Gen 2:6) |
The creation was completed. All the little spirits (all alike, all one) male and female spirits were created. (Gal 3:28) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. |
But after that, in Gen 2:5, God saw that He “did not have a man to till the ground” yet he FORMED Adam for fellowship with Him |
Outline Gen. 2:4-9
- Man occupies the Garden of Eden.
- Verses 4 through 6 describe the condition of the earth before Day 3, when God created the trees and plants that would provide an environment for mankind.
- During this time, the ground was barren, and there was no rain.
- The mist that rose from the earth was the only source of precipitation.
- It is not known how long this condition prevailed, but rain is not mentioned again until the warning given to Noah.
- The warning to Noah is in Genesis 7:4. “For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.”
- This information has caused some to speculate that the rains of the flood were the first to be seen by mankind.
Part of the evidence presented to support this view is in the language of Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark….
This language could refer to the world-wide flood, which had not been seen, rather than the absence of rain. We will discuss this in future lessons.
- Verses 7 through 9
- The garden prepared by God would supply the food necessary to sustain life.
- The garden would also contain two significant trees.
After Adam and Eve sinned, the Tree of Life was forbidden to them, but it appears again in the New Testament book of Revelation.
Revelation 2:7 ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.
The Edenic Covenant. Gen. 1:28-30; Gen. 2:15-17.
This Covenant was given to Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden, before the Fall of Man. It ushered in as some timelines and Dispensationalists suggest the “Dispensation of Innocence.”
The Six Conditions of this Covenant were.
- Possibly if you adhere to this theory: To Replenish the Earth with an earthly race of people, the first or Pre-Adamite Race having become extinct, through the earth having been thrown into a chaotic condition. Gen. 1:2.
- To Subdue the Earth to the needs of the human race. What this means is not clear, unless it means to so control the forces of light, heat, electricity, gravitation, etc., as to enable man to use them to supply his needs. Or subdue as to earth malfunctions such as earthquakes, tsunamis, weather etc. (after the fall)
- To Have Dominion Over the Animal Creation. Not over the domestic animals only, but over wild creatures as well. This is beautifully described in Psa. 8:3-5.
- To Restrict Themselves to a “Vegetable Diet.” And from verse 30 it would appear that the animal creation, before the Fall, was limited to a vegetable diet.
- To Till the Garden in which God had placed him. This was doubtless a pleasure and not a task. There was no curse upon the earth at that time. It was not until after the Fall that “thorns” and “thistles” and “weeds” made the cultivation of the soil laborious. Gen. 3:17-19.
- To Abstain From Eating of the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.” Man was created innocent like the infant. He did not know what sin was. His environment was such that he would have remained innocent if he had obeyed God, and refused to eat of the “Tree” which opened his eyes. The moment he ate of that “Tree” he broke the Covenant and knew the difference between good and evil, which in itself is self. Of course, we know that God knows the end from the beginning and the plan was already in place.
Gen.2:10-14 Now a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from there it parted and became four riverheads.11 The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which skirts the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.12 And the gold of that land is good. Bdellium and the onyx stone are there.13 The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush.14 The name of the third river is Hiddekel; it is the one which goes toward the east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates.
God knows where all the gold and precious jewels are on the earth.
The Rivers from Eden
These verses have been the source of much controversy among Bible students. The description of one river dividing into four is contrary to the normal pattern of rivers on the face of the earth.
Geologically most tributaries can come together to form one river. There are numerous examples of this on this planet.
The rivers in the description here seem to cover very wide areas. (a)Pishon flows around the land of Havilah.
This was the post-diluvian name of a country far removed from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
The general location of Havilah, in the time of King Saul, is given in 1 Samuel 15:7 So Saul defeated the Amalekites, from Havilah as you go to Shur, which is east of Egypt. Gihon is said to flow around the land of Cush (or, Ethiopia. We have to remember that our text here speaks of geographic features in the ante-diluvian world. There are no rivers in Cush connected to the Tigris and Euphrates. The Tigris is said to flow “east of Assyria.” (On some maps of Bible times, the Tigris is shown flowing through the center of Assyria.) The Euphrates, the 4th river, joins the Tigris in our modern country of Iraq. This combined river flows into the Persian Gulf. It has a different source than the Tigris. The site of Eden and the rivers connected with it could have been anywhere on the face of the planet. The ante-diluvian world would have a much different appearance than the post-diluvian.

Note about the parallel of the natural to the spiritual. All truth is parallel. The natural reflects the spiritual.
(1Co 15:45-46) And so it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul,” the last Adam was a life-giving Spirit. But not the spiritual first, but the natural; afterward the spiritual.
(Rom 1:19) because the thing which may be known of God is clearly revealed within them, for God revealed it to them. For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead,……………….
(Col 1:15) who ( Jesus Christ) is the image of the invisible God, the First-born of all creation.
(2Co 4:18) we not considering the things which are seen, but the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are not lasting, but the things which are not seen are everlasting.
(2Ti 3:16) All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,

Gen.2: 15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it (work and take care of it).16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;17 “but of the tree of the knowledge of good (Hebrew, vain prosperity, and wealth) and evil (Hebrew, rah, meaning tragedy, trouble, distress, wickedness) you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
The First Adam was called to DRESS and to KEEP the Garden of Eden (Gen. 2:15), The word for “DRESS” in Exodus 30:7 means, “to be (causative) make well, literally (sound, beautiful) or figuratively (happy, successful, right); to be good, to be pleasing, to be well, to be glad.”

Adam was placed in the Garden to “cultivate and keep” it. Adam did not lead a life of indolence in a land of plenty.
The Garden of Eden was the environment that God created for a relationship with Him to take place. Adam and Eve’s responsibility was to dress and keep it. They were put there, not to do nothing, not just to pluck fruit off a tree, not even merely to receive eternal life, but to take care of the Garden.
Dress means “to embellish.” This may seem a little strange, but Adam and Eve were to take care of it so well that it would become better than it was when God gave it to them. We like to think of the Garden as being a place of absolute and perfect beauty. Instead, since God told them to “dress and keep it,” it seems that it was not complete. It had only been started. What He had done was certainly beautiful, but He wanted them to carry on and finish it.
Keep means “to guard” or “to preserve.” If they did not work to dress the Garden, God is telling them, it would deteriorate. That is the way of all things physical, they degenerate if they are not maintained and taken care of.
There are spiritual lessons here. We have been invited into a relationship with God. Like any relationship, it must be worked on to make it increasingly tighter and more productive. We are to “dress and to keep” the relationship. We are not in the Garden, certainly, but we are in the relationship. To do this, we grow in knowledge and understanding of God the Father, The Son and Holy Spirit. Relationship is the key to accomplishing this. If there is no relationship, Holy Spirit is limited in working in and with us, and through us. Relationship is the key.
He was told to do the gardening. (God’s first command to man) He was forbidden the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Death was the result promised to Adam, if he ate of the fruit. This law was given later to Eve (Genesis 3)
We are not sure if this was physical fruit at all, but we know these were literal trees.
Symbolically/spiritually:
FRUIT OF BOTH TREES–Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, (tree of knowledge of good and evil) but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.(tree of life)
Gen.2:18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; (Adam was inadequate by himself) I will make him a helper comparable (complimentary) to him.”
Further comment and study in Gen.2: 20.
Gen.2:19 Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adamcalled each living creature that was its name.
Adam continuing in creation by the spoken word.
There are several factors, which may not be immediately obvious to the casual reader, that need to be considered. Firstly, Adam did not have to go out and round up or track any of these animals. Genesis 2:19 clearly states that God brought the animals to Adam.
Secondly, although many objectors have claimed that the species Adam had to observe and name would have numbered in the millions, the actual number would almost certainly have been only a small fraction of this.[it] could easily have been achieved in a few hours, perhaps 50,000.
Note that Scripture explicitly states that Adam named all the ‘livestock’ (Heb.behemah), the ‘birds of the air’ (Heb. oph hassamayim) and all the ‘beasts of the field’ (Heb. chayyah hassadeh).

(Gen 2:20a) And Adam gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every animal of the field.
Names are very important in the Hebrew. John H. Walton, an Old Testament professor at Wheaton, writes in his book The Lost World of Genesis One that names were far more than simply being concise ways of referring to something.
Names in the ancient world were associated with identity, role, and function. Consequently, naming is a typical part of the creation narrative.
This ancient understanding of name as identity makes more sense of other phrases relating to names in the Old Testament, like naming a child as “calling his name” (Genesis 4:25, Matthew 1:21), which just sounds redundant to us, or describing worship as “calling upon the name of the Lord” (Genesis 4:26, 1 Corinthians 1:2), or David giving thanks to God’s name (Psalm 138:2) or Jesus receiving “the name that is above every name” (Philippians 2:9).
Name refers to character, nature, and function. The Names of God used in the Bible act as a roadmap for learning about the nature and character of God. Since the Bible is God’s Word to us, the names He chooses in scripture are meant to reveal His true nature to us.
This also helps explain why the Jews refused to speak the true name of God and abbreviated it in writing as YHWH.
And so Adam’s task of naming the animals takes on much more significance than we normally think; it means assigning them their identity, role, and function in the world. So Adam’s naming the elephant wasn’t just deciding what to call it, it was bestowing its very identity of “elephant-ness” (possibly including its physical characteristics) on the beast. Genesis 2 is, then, the ultimate “how the leopard got its spots” story, or rather, “how all the animals became what they are”.
And there’s more. Adam’s naming work can be seen as a direct continuation of God’s creative work in Genesis 1:
Note as mentioned last week: out of the ground the animals were brought to Adam to name. Where the animal’s seed already on the ground or did Adam form them from the ground? Or were they ground creatures?
I suggest that they were in seed form.
Some contend that simply put, they were ground creatures who lived and multiplied on the earth (ground), because they were brought to Adam, thus, creatures of the water could not be present, or they would die. More about the Hebrew word “rcy/form”. One of the meanings of this word is “pre-ordain, plan (of divine) purpose of a situation” So some say when Moses wrote this, that God had preordained the animals of the ground to come to Adam to be named. It had to be divine and orderly for all the ground animals and birds to gather in one place, at one time, and stay there until Adam was done naming them.
Adam Continuing in the Spoken Word
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.
And God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day.
And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. (1:3-10)
God’s naming the Day, Night, Earth, Heavens and Sea is an integral part of His creating these things (which, additionally, was more defined by bestowing them with a role and function in the cosmos than giving them material being as we think of creation).
But God’s naming stops with the Sea. He doesn’t name any of the plants or animals (except humans) He creates (doesn’t give them defined roles or “identities”). He leaves this task to humans, His appointed image-bearers (1:26-27). It’s an image of how we are appointed to be co-creators, God continuing through us His ongoing work of creation and re-creation.
The work of humankind (Adam), God’s appointed image-bearer, is an integral part of the creation of the animals in Genesis.
The solution is to stop reading Genesis in a culturally imperialistic way that assumes that the ancient Hebrew author of Genesis must have had the same perspective of the world that we do today. If we try to force Genesis to fit into a modern worldview, we not only run into many hermeneutical roadblocks (and the need to poeticize away all that stuff about the “vault of the sky”, “waters under the earth”, and so on), we risk missing out on the theological knowledge it’s supposed to convey, like humanity’s role as “little creators”. If we let Genesis be Genesis, an ancient book written by an ancient culture very different from our own, we begin to understand its original significance and how this significance can be transferred to today.
Your Words have creative power.
Psalm 147:4- He (God) tells the number of the stars and calls them all by their name. Genesis 2:19b- Whatever name Adam gave to every living creature that was their name. Being made in the image and likeness of God man has been given the right to name things upon the earth. Name implies nature. Whatever you name a thing or situation you ascribed a certain nature to that thing to operate as such in your life. The kingdom is voice activated and if you call a thing as such, it will then act in that manner towards you as you have called it to be.
Speaking the Creative Word of Faith
Gen. 1:3—“Let there be light.”
Gen. 22:5—“I and the lad will go yonder and worship and come again to you.”
Num. 13:30—“Let us go up at once, and possess it.”
2 Kings 6:16—“”They that be with us are more than they that be with them.”
John 11:43—“Lazarus, come forth.”
2 Cor. 4:6—“God commanded the light to shine out of darkness.”
Rom. 4:17—“Call the things that be not as though they were.”
Rom. 11:1—“Faith is the substance of things hoped for.”
Rom. 11:3—“Through faith the worlds were framed by the word of God.”
Adam was given the authority to name every animal that was formed our of the ground (Gen. 2:19). He was given dominion over every beast in the earth. When you are in authority you have the right to name everything that’s under you. Parents name children because they have the authority, children don’t name parents or tell parents what their name is. The Christ has been given authority over everything in the natural and spiritual realm. You in Christ have that same authority. Stop allowing a wrong mindset, situations and wrong spirits in people to tell you their name (place of power and authority in your life). You name or assign every wrong spirit/thought a place of submission under your feet. When you recognize YOUR God given authority to name (assign) these spirit/ thoughts their place they will submit to your authority. When a situation want to tell you its name is “disaster” you tell it no, your real name is “a part of the workings of God for my good”.
1st Adam; 2nd or Last Adam
The 1st Adam–The old man, the adamic nature.
SCRIPTURES: Gen. 1:26-28; 2:19-23; 5:1-2; Job 31:33; Rom. 5:12-21; 1 Cor. 15:21-22.
Adam was the first man, the federal head of the human race. “Adam” is transliterated from the Hebrew “‘adam” (Strong’s #120) and means “ruddy, a human being.” Its root means “to show blood (in the face); flush or turn rosy.” Adam was formed by God on the eight day of creation, and placed in the Garden of Eden. He and his wife Eve, built by God from Adam’s side, became the ancestors of all people now living on the earth. His and her transgression brought about the fall of the human race.
Jesus Christ is the “Last Adam,” the federal Head of the new creation, the spiritual race (1 Cor. 15:45). He is the Seed of the woman, the “Son of man” (Gen. 3:15; Mk. 10:45; Jn. 3:14). These terms speak of Jesus’ humanity, that He was made of a woman, made in the likeness of men, and tempted in all points like as we are, yet without sin (Gal. 4:4; Phil. 2:7; Heb. 4:15). Jesus is the Word made flesh (Jn. 1:14). This second Man is the Lord from Heaven, the Beginning of the new creation Man (1 Cor. 15:47; Eph. 4:24; Rev. 3:14).
Symbolically/spiritually: The adamic nature is called the “old man” (Rom. 6:6; Eph. 4:22; Col. 3:9). The Christ nature is called the “new man” (Eph. 2:15; 4:24; Col. 3:10). All men have died in Adam and were born in sin (Rom. 5:12-21; Eph. 2:1). There is none righteous, no, not one (Rom. 3:10, 23). As we have borne the image of the earthy, so let us now put on and wear the image of the heavenly (1 Cor. 15:49). Paul declared, “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Cor. 15:21-22). We have been made righteous because we are in Christ.

Parallel Adam and the Four Living Creatures in Revelation
Rev. 4:6-7 says,
6 . . . and in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. 7 And the first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle.
Adam (man) was made the overall ruler over God’s creation, including (1) the birds (1:28) of which the eagle is king; (2) the beasts of the earth (1:24), of which the lion is king; and (3) the cattle (1:25), of which the ox is king. The king or leader of each category is not meant to exclude all others, but rather they represent all others in their respective classes. Hence, these animals came to represent the whole earth.
Adam was called to lead creation to God, not by conquest or by military force, but by the power, character, and Spirit that Jesus Christ later demonstrated in His ministry. However, the first Adam sinned, bringing corruption to the earth, and so the earth’s rulers have misused this mandate, not ruling according to the divine law, but according to his own laws.
Yet Jesus Christ came as the Last Adam to fulfill this mandate, for He alone had the mind of the Father and knew how to rule in love without oppressing the earth. In the end, His rule will be ratified by every living creature. All creatures on earth will praise and worship Him. The four living creatures will say “Amen!” to His rule (Rev. 5:14), after experiencing the injustices of man’s rule for so long.
(Rev 5:14) And the four living creatures said, Amen. And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped the One living forever and ever.
All other contestants for dominion over the earth have proven themselves unfit and unworthy to rule creation. Only Jesus Christ and His perfected Body are qualified to rule in His throne. And so we find the book of Genesis giving us the beginning of all things, and the book of Revelation revealing the end.
Gen. 2:20b But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.22 Then the rib/side which the Lord God had taken from man He made (Hebrew banah, meaning skillfully and artistically formed or built) into a woman,(Hebrew, Isha, meaning out of man, Ish) and He brought her to the man.23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife; and they were not ashamed.
Woman was formed to give man a fitting helper. The word in the Hebrew is comparable.
Before Eve was formed/built (designed in Hebrew), God allowed Adam to search among the animals of the world for a helper, but none was found. This gives us a charming narrative to lead up to the forming of woman. Among the animals examined and named by Adam, there were male and female specimens. (This is implied from God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply.” Genesis 1:22) It was fitting that in mankind, a female be formed to match the male.
(1 CORINTHIANS 3:16) I would suggest this was the desire of God in the Garden of Eden. He wanted Adam to invite Him in because Adam was lonely. God in his great Love and Mercy gave him Woman, which only exacerbated the problem as they were still lonely. Otherwise they wouldn’t have decided to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and by doing so give their allegiance to the serpent.——Wo/man will always be lonely until acknowledge Jesus in our lives.
1 Corinthians 11:7-9 For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. [8] For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; [9] for indeed man was not created for the woman’s sake, but woman for the man’s sake.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the man is the head of a woman, and God is the head of Christ.
1 Timothy 2:11-13 Let a woman quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. [12] But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. [13] For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve.
1 Peter 3:7 You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
1 Timothy 2:15 But women shall be saved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.
These Scriptures have been totally misunderstood. We will discuss this later in this lesson.
Eve, not named yet, was Adam, one flesh.
(Gen 5:1-2) This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
They both were named Adam.
Gen.2:18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”
Gen. 2:20b But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him…
Gen.2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh.
I shall make a helper fit for him’ (RSV); ‘I will make a fitting helper for him’ (New Jewish Publication Society); ‘I will make an aid fit for him’ (AB); ‘I will make him a helpmate’ (JB); ‘I will make a suitable partner for him’ (NAB); ‘I will make him a helper comparable to him’ (NKJV). YLT says counterpart.

[Source: Hard Sayings of the Bible by Walter C. Kaiser, Peter H. Davids, F. F. Bruce, and Manfred Brauch]
The Hebrew word for comparable is ezer or azar/ayzer Hebrew 45828
Means literally power and strength for the man (taken from Exegesis Bible).
Genesis 2:18,20 should be translated as “I will make a power [or strength] corresponding to man.” Then God makes for the man a woman fully his equal and fully his match. In this way, the man’s loneliness will be assuaged.”
This line of reasoning, which stresses full equality, is continued in Genesis 2:23 where Adam says of Eve, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” The idiomatic sense of this phrase “bone of my bones” is a “very close relative” to “one of us” or in effect “our equal.”
The woman was never meant to be an assistant or “helpmate” to the man. The word “mate” slipped into English since it was so close to the Old English word “meet,” which means “fit to” or “corresponding to” the man which comes from the phrase that likely means “equal to.”
What God had intended, then, was to make a “power” or “strength” for the man who would in every way “correspond to him” or even “be his equal.””
The Torah Study for Reformed Jews says, “From the time of creation, relationships between spouses have at times been adversarial. In Genesis 2:18, God calls woman an ezer kenegdo, a “helper against him.” The great commentator Rashi takes the term literally to make a wonderful point: “If he [Adam] is worthy, [she will be] a help [ezer]. If he is not worthy [she will be] against him [kenegdo] for strife.”
The traditional teaching for the woman as helpmeet or helpmate- that of assistant or helper subservient to the one being helped. In all other Biblical contexts ezer refers to military allies. Adding kenegdo means one who is the same as the other and who surrounds, protects, aids, supports. There is no indication of inferiority or secondary position. (Dr. Susan Hyatt, In the Spirit We’re Equal)
The word ezer is used in the Old Testament referring to a female 14 times. For example, in the Psalms when David says,” the Lord is my Helper, the word ezer is used.
This would be true in reference to 1 Cor. 14:33-35 and 1 Tim. 2:12
(1Co 14:33-35) For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. Let your women be silent in the churches; for it is not permitted to them to speak, but to be in subjection, as the Law also says. And if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for a woman to speak in a church.
(1Ti 2:12) But I do not allow a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence.
The confusion in the Corinthian Church perhaps could have been caused by weak men, unworthy men; the women thusly were in strife with them. Instead Paul admonished them to be in communication with one another.
This Jewish study also described man and woman facing each other with arms raised holding an arch between them, giving a beautiful picture of equal responsibility.
Notice God had said all of creation was good but here He said it is not good for man to be alone.
Woman- Hebrew- Isha- meaning skillfully artistically carved or built. Notice Adam or man in Hebrew is Ish. So Adam and Eve had the same name. Adam named Eve after the Fall. Gen.3:20
Gen.2:21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, (side chamber) and closed up the flesh in its place.22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
Rib- Strong’s #6763 Hebrew tslea- side, corner, chamber or flank not rib.
The word side chamber was translated rib instead of side chamber, corner, chambers or flank.
This may seem unimportant until one realizes that the blood and water came from the side of the 2nd Adam, Jesus Christ and by His death, we live.
One Scholar’s View: God took the female reproduction segment (we call that the “gonad” or the germ plasma) which was in a “side chamber” in Adam, who had, Scriptures indicate, both male and female qualities within him, and from that He created the woman. If you find that hard to accept, consider that in the animal kingdom, there are still several species (especially in insects and micro -organisms) that are both male and female. I believe that, as a man’s sperm today produces either a male or female (and some of the early Rabbis who were students of the Old Testament also had this concept), I believe that God removed the female reproductive section from Adam and from it created the woman. (reference from Les Feldick’s Old Testament Survey)
Gen.2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. She shall be called Woman because she was taken out of man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh.25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife; and they were not ashamed.
Verse 24 is used by Christ in a discussion with Pharisees over the matter of divorce. Matthew 19:3-6 And some Pharisees came to Him, testing Him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause at all?” [4] And He answered and said, “Have you not read, that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, [5] and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH’? [6] “Consequently they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”
One more thought about the relationship of man with his partner, woman.
1 Corinthians 11:12 For as the woman originates from the man, so also the man has his birth through the woman; and all things originate from God.
Verse 25 reveals the innocent and unashamed state of Adam and Eve, before they sinned.
UNITED, ONE FLESH- SPIRIT, SOUL AND BODY–HEBREW, ECHAD, MEANING UNIT, TO BRING TOGETHER, GOD’S CREATED ORDER.
Man & woman were created equal in God’s eyes. It was only because of the fall that a hierarchy came into being. Anyone or any institution that elevates the position of men above women is choosing to walk in Adam’s lineage & not the lineage of Jesus.
It was not the burning self-desire of Adam that caused Eve to come forth, but the purpose of God! It was God Himself that initiated the whole process. for the record states, And the LORD GOD said, It is not good for the man to be alone; I WILL MAKE Him an help meet for him” (Gen. 2:18). Eve was God’s idea! “Meet” in the expression “help meet” is an old English word meaning “suitable, fit, proper.” The whole flavor of the word “meet” is to fit, join, agree, be in union, be together. No hostility here! No war between the sexes! And no division. God made a helper to properly and suitably fit, join, combine, agree, be in union with, yes, to be ONE with Adam, and he ONE with her!
Matthew 19:55 “and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’.
The author of Genesis tells a story of creation that presents the first man and woman as true partners. Both are created in the image of God, and both are charged with tending to the earth God has made. As J.R. Daniel Kirk puts it so wisely in his article, “Imaging the Biblical God”:
“To bear the image of God is to be the person whom God has entrusted to rule the world on God’s behalf. The purpose of humanity, ‘Let them rule the world on our behalf; is inseparable from the categorization of these creatures as those made ‘in the image of God.’ In other words: it is not merely as humans that we reflect God together as male and female, but as those who rule over the world as male and female we bear the image of God. The kind of rule God has in mind is not a ‘masculine’ rule, but a masculine plus feminine, male plus female, rule. Only this kind of shared participation in representing God’s reign to the world is capable of doing justice to the God whose image we bear.”
TYPE OF CHRIST AND THE CHURCH As Eve was taken from Adam, so Christ’s church was taken from His wounded side. As the flesh was afterward closed up, so Christ’s flesh was healed and raised from the dead to become the Head of the Church.
Ephesians 5:30-32 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Gen.2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.(embarrassed)
Genesis 5:1-2This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created mankind, He made him in the likeness of God.2 He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Adam ( Mankind ) in the day they were created.
WE SEE IN CREATION THAT GOD CREATES FIRST, THEN FORMS, AND THEN BUILDS UPON WHAT HE HAS FORMED.
Christ Revealed in Genesis
As Creator (Genesis 1:1). See John 1:1-4; Col. 1:15-17; Heb. 11:3.
As the Seed of woman (Gen. 3:15). See Isa. 7:14; 9:6-7; Gal. 4:4.
Messianic Prophecies in Genesis
Gen. 3:15…..Seed of a woman (virgin birth)…..Luke 1:35, Mt 1:18-20
Gen. 3:15…..He will bruise Satan’s head…..Heb. 2:14, 1 Jn. 3:18
The Preincarnate Christ
Gen.1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Is. 7:14 “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.6 For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, EverlastingFather, Prince of Peace.7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
(Isa 9:6-7) For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be on His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. There is no end of the increase of His government and peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on, even forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this.
John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 He was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
Col. 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist
Heb. 11:.3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”
(Gal 4:4-5) But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, coming into being out of a woman, having come under Law, that He might redeem those under Law, so that we might receive the adoption of sons.
THIS IS THE FIRST PROPHECY OF THE BIBLE
Gen 2: 23-24 “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
The Seed of the woman is Jesus (Gal. 4:4).
“He shall bruise thy head” in Gen 3:15 prophesies of Jesus bringing complete and crushing defeat of satan, both at Calvary and at the end of Christ’s millennial reign, when Satan will be cast into the lake of fire to be tormented day and night forever (CR Col 2:15; He 2:14-15; 1Jn 3:8; Rev 20:1-3, 7-10). “And thou shalt bruise His heel” in Gen 3:14 is a prophecy of satan inflicting only temporary suffering on Jesus.
Messianic Prophecy #1
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He (Christ) shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.” (body of Christ)
Fulfillment of Prophecy
Hebrews 2:14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself (Jesus Christ) likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Col. 2:15 (Jesus Christ) Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Col.2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
Romans 16: 20And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
THE HEAD (JESUS CHRIST) HAS ALREADY DEFEATED satan. IT IS UP TO THE BODY, THE FEET TO FINISH HIM OFF, to enforce what Jesus Christ has already done. Reason: Authority and dominion of mankind on the earth.
As a conclusion to Lesson 3:
Summary Authority & Dominion:
The Garden of Eden was a prophetic symbol, or picture, of God’s Kingdom and government. God’s original intention for the garden was for it to be tended by Adam and Eve, its borders to be expanded and its government to cover the earth!
The same is true for today.
WE HAVE AUTHORITY AND DOMINION IN 3 REALMS
SPIRITUAL REALM- PRINCIPALITIES AND POWERS- PAST TENSE -Colossians 2:13-15 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.15 Having disarmed principalities and powers; He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
SOULISH REALM- BATTLE OF THE MIND, WILL AND EMOTIONS- CONTINUOUS AND PROGRESSION TENSE– SANCTIFICATION-
Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, (word of their confession) and they did not love their lives to the death.
- 3. PHYSICAL REALM- EARTH- BODY- POWER OF BINDING AND LOOSING– PAST TENSE- Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Hebrews 10:12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
I AM AN OVERCOMER BY THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB AND THE WORD OF MY TESTIMONY. I AM REDEEMED FROM satan’s LORDSHIP. I CAN STOP HIS ASSIGNMENTS EVERY TIME. satan HAS NO RULE OVER ME. 1 Cor. 10:4, James 4:7, Eph. 4:15-16, 5:23 Col 1:18, 2:10
Man Given Part of God’s Copyright
One of God’s spiritual laws is that a whoever creates a thing, then they have the power over that creation. God put His copyright on His creation when He named it.
Adam Given Copyright
Actually, when God created He did not keep all the copyright. He gave some of it to Adam. In fact if you look at Genesis 1, you will see that only in the first three days of creation did God actually name the things that He created. After that He did not, until He came to His final day of creation when He made mankind (all our spirits) and then again He formed the first man (body) and named His man Adam. But between the third and the sixth days of creation God did not give a name. Do you know why? Because He gave the copyright to Adam.
Later on when the animals were brought to Adam God did not bring them and say to Adam, “Okay, Adam, this one over here with the big mane is a lion, and that tall one with the tusks and the big ears, that’s an elephant.” No, He said, “Adam, I’ve made them, but you have the copyright. Call them whatever you like. The choice is yours.”
God gave to Adam, to man, (dominion and authority) control over the creation that He had made.
In conclusion of Chapter 1 and 2 of Genesis
Questions and Answers:
What does the creation of the world say about God?
The Bible, Chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis, was not given to us a “proof” of God, but to instruct us on how and why to worship, and to understand that we were created with a distinct destiny.
3 Myths in Genesis
Here are 3 common beliefs from Genesis. Each of them is false.
- The Bible says Adam and Eve’s only children were two boys
False! If Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and they had only two children who were boys (Cain and Abel), the population of the earth could never have increased. But the Bible says in Genesis 5:4 that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters. Jewish tradition says they had 33 sons and 23 daughters. (Remember that Adam lived 930 years, so he and Eve had plenty of time to have 56 children!)
- Men have fewer ribs than women
False! A common misconception among some Christians is that men have fewer ribs than women. They wrongly deduce this from the Bible’s Book of Genesis. In chapter 2, verses 21 and 22, we read that God created the first woman (Eve) by causing a deep sleep to fall upon Adam (the first man). God then took one of Adam’s ribs and closed up the flesh, and made the woman from the rib. Therefore all men since that time have one fewer rib than women. This idea is wrong. Probably he rib was not used at all, the Hebrew is side chamber, perhaps gonad.
- The Bible teaches that the earth is flat
False! Many people think the Bible teaches that the earth is flat. And the ancients believed that. Galileo was imprisoned because he taught the earth was round and the earth revolved around the sun. Galileo agreed not to teach the heresy anymore and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. It took more than 300 years for the Church to admit that Galileo was right and to clear his name of heresy.
The Bible does not teach that the earth was flat. It teaches that the earth is spherical. In fact, we did a study of 5000 writings from the time of Plato and Aristotle up to modern times, and could not find one writer who believed the earth is flat. The flat-earth idea seems to be a myth that flourished after Darwinists tried to discredit the Bible.
