“Entering NEW territory – A New Year”

As we are entering a New Year -our expectations are high, and many may even bring New Year resolutions with them believing that they are still within their reach. But before we take another step, let me encourage you with the following verses from Deuteronomy 11:10-15 where God makes the following promises:

“The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden.

11 – But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven.

12 – It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.

13 – So if you faithfully obey the commands, I am giving you today—to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 – then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and olive oil.

15 – I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.”

Let me make a comparison before we listen in to what God is promising His people the upcoming year 2020.  I believe the “land” we are entering is in reality the new year.  It is land of mountains and valleys, ups and downs – like any other year really.

What is the difference then? Well, let´s read verse 12 one more time: “It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.” That´s it! God´s eyes are continually on it! And when God is watching over something or someone that makes ALL the difference! Because then he pays attention to what is going on and to the ups and downs.

We are promised that “rains from heaven” will irrigate the land meaning supernatural provision will come down throughout the whole year and some of you really need to hear this now; supernatural provision! I believe God really wants you to pay attention now: You see 2020 is NOT like “the land of Egypt where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden” and it´s not about your own effort! It´s about supernatural provision. Why? Because mountains and valleys await you- new assignments- new doors- new territory in the natural and spiritual realm!

BUT there is also a condition attached to the promises given: “so if you faithfully” in verse 13 reminds us of what we ourselves have to do: to LOVE him with all our heart and soul!   Then we will be blessed throughout the year.

In Israel they already celebrated the New Year 5780, Rosh Hashanah (Hebrew: רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה), literally meaning “head of the year”  which commenced back in September 2019. As part of tradition apples are dipped in honey, symbolizing a sweet year, and a custom sounding the shofar (a cleaned-out ram’s horn), as prescribed in the Torah, following the prescription of the Hebrew Bible to “raise a noise”!

In the beginning of the year 2020/5780 I hear a new sound, the sound of God´s people making a strong noise: a shout of PRAISE- thanking the Lord for his provision- naturally and spiritually.

I hear Him say: Let´s walk TOGETHER AND STRONGER LIKE EVER BEFORE!

Happy blessed new YEAR 2020!
