“3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him. 4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah 5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD. 6 Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD. 7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound. 8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
After reading Psalm 4 just the other day- the Holy Spirit brought something to my attention I would like to share with you. I believe that the Lord wants to remind you that you are not just anybody! As a matter of fact: YOU ARE CHOSEN! Verse 3: God wants you to know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself! That means you are His treasure- you are special- you have a special purpose and a special place in his heart. <3
In the Old Testament – God would sometimes choose somebody like Simson for a special assignment- a person like that is called NASIR in Hebrew. But today, we are part of a new covenant and after receiving and confessing our faith in Yeshua; God sets us apart for Himself! And not only that, God promises that He will pay special attention to our prayers! Our job is to search our hearts and confess any sin that could hinder us from being His chosen people, as the psalmist mentions in verse 4. Furthermore, God blesses us with great JOY and fills our hearts with His peace – letting us dwell in great safety.
I always wondered how Paul and Silas (Acts 16) could sing and worship God in prison which must have been scary. How could they sleep at night knowing that they might be executed the next day? I believe the apostles received a SUPERNATURAL PEACE that only God can provide. I believe that some of you are in great need of divine PEACE after not being able to sleep at night. Today, let me encourage you with this: If God has chosen you and set apart; He is able to change your circumstances lifting off worry, anxiety or anything else that is keeping you up. Someone wrote: FEAR looks back, WORRY looks around, but FAITH looks UP!
Have FAITH- and be assured that God will keep you safe and sound.
