EPHESIANS LESSON 6 (CHAPTER 5) 04/18/20

LESSON 6-Ephesians

Walking in Love, Light, Wisdom, and Worship

Ephesians Chapter 5:1-20

Eph.5:12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.

5:12 By gossiping about shameful acts that people do in secret you are giving those things undue mileage. Mirror

Eph. 5:13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.

Ephesians 5:13 But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. (NAS)

5:13 Darkness loses its grip upon that which light manifests. Light displaces darkness. Mirror Translation

Prophetic Symbolism is in Gen 1:1-3

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God (Elohim) created (Bara) the heavens and the earth.

Gen.1:2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Darkness on the face of the deep.

*Symbol- darkness-Symbol of ignorance, blindness, sorrow and distress – Ex. 10:21-23; Job 18:18; Eph. 5:8-11; Col. 1:13; John 1:5, 2:8, 8:12, 1 John 2:11.

Prophetic symbolism:

The earth meaning us as earthen vessels without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep within my spirit until God said “let there be Light” Glory/Christ.

Genesis 1:3 Then God (Elohim , plural-God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) said, “Let there (Hayah) be light” ( GLORY); and there was light.(Light in the Hebrew means revelation, understanding, glory of God, manifestation of God Himself)

Gen.1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.5 God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

1ST DAY-LIGHT – GLORY- Everything God Is
Light- Hebrew- 215,216 “owr”1b1) to be illuminated 1b2) to become lighted up—to become glorious.

Opposite of darkness is light-glory.

GLORY- Hebrew=kabowd (kawbode)= weight, slendor, honor, abundance, riches, splendor,

Greek-=doxa= dignity, honor, praise, worship, splendor, brightness, magnificence, excellence, dignity, grace, majesty
Doxa is from dokeo=to think= The Glory of God is the Mind of Christ!

His glory is His goodness—the Glory of God is summed up in one word, One Name= the Name of Jesus Christ

His Name or His Nature (all that He is, has and does)

In Creation God’s Presence (Glory) came upon the earth, bringing order. Out of that order, everything was created.

In other words, God created, brought creation out of Himself.

God said let there be light = understanding. So, let there be understanding = “grace” -glory:

Darkness, ignorance, confusion was on the face of the deep and God brought glory/understanding.

(Pro 4:7) Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom; and with all your getting get understanding.

Let there be Light = Understanding = Grace /Glory:
Solomon said: with all thy getting get it: understanding. When understanding is embraced, grace/glory.

Genesis 1:3 Cont.:

And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Let there be…..

Here is the prophetic symbolism…..What happens when you accept Jesus/Yeshua?

2 Corinthians 4:6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

Related Scriptures:

Mark 4:22 For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was anything kept secret, but that it should come abroad. (KJV)

Mark 4:22 “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has {anything} been secret, but that it should come to light. (NAS)

Eph.5:14 Therefore He says: 1 “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”

5:14 This is the message of light, Christ awakens you from your intoxicated slumber and resurrects you out of a death trap (of your thought patterns.) Mirror Translation

Related Scriptures:

Isaiah 26:19 Your dead shall live; Together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead.
Is.60:1 Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

Exodus 10:22-23 So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.
Cross Reference for Light:

Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Does God really create darkness? NO, darkness is the absence of light. Did God create evil? No, God is a good God, but does not have the ability to do anything about evil. Evil came as a result of sin, and sin is something that God did not want in the universe. That is why the lamb was slain from the foundations of the world.

Psalms 104:2 Who covers you with light as with a garment: who stretches out the heavens like a curtain:

1 Timothy 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

Consider Paul on the way to Damascus

Acts 26:13 At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.

John 1: 69 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
John 9:4-6“I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.5 “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”6 When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.
Matthew 5:14 -16“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.15 “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom (of Light) of the Son of His love,
Who has delivered us from the power of darkness – The power exerted over us in that dark kingdom to which we formerly dwelt- the kingdom of satan/darkness. The characteristic of this empire is darkness – the emblem of:
(1) sin
(2) error
(3) misery and death

But now we are delivered from them and brought to the enjoyment of the privileges of those who are connected with the kingdom of light. Darkness is often used to represent the state in which men are by their sensual nature; compare Luke 1:79; Acts 26:18; Romans 13:12; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 John 2:8.

And has translated us – The word rendered here “translated” is often used in the sense of removing a people from one country to another; see Josephus, Ant. ix. 11. 1. It means, here, that they who are Christians have been transferred from one kingdom to another, as if a people were thus removed. They become subjects of a new kingdom, are under different laws, and belong to a different community. This change is made in regeneration, by which we pass from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light; from the empire of sin, ignorance, and misery, to one of holiness, knowledge, and happiness. No change, therefore, in a person’s life is so important as this; and no words can suitably express the gratitude which they should feel who are thus transferred from the empire of darkness to that of Light.

We will continue with Lesson 6 next week.

The blessings of the Lord are upon you whether by blood, adoption/sonship or assignment. The blessing of the LORD makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Prov. 10:22
