A Great Treasure Box!

One of my favorite books of the bible is the books of Proverbs. It really is a great treasure box of practical wisdom inspired by God. Each proverb is a short statement that addresses every day, familiar situations to teach moral, ethical and spiritual principles. These principles apply to all people. The real appeal of this remarkable book is that it contains practical wisdom, understanding and knowledge that people can understand easily, at least on the surface.

The Book of Proverbs is full of great tips and advice – and wisdom is praised more than anything else – more than 100 times.

It is also King Solomon’s great volume of wisdom. Proverbs deals with various aspects of the human experience and guides us in the way of right living. The book also encourages us to seek after wisdom, while also telling us where that wisdom can be found. This wisdom must be sought like buried treasure. It also must be viewed as a precious jewel. We must seek after it diligently and not let go of it for all our days. The truth is true wisdom always begins with God. Ultimately, the book teaches that wisdom can be found, but only by those who search for it with all their heart.

One of my favorites is from Proverbs 3:33 “The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.” It´s a great word of power! it refers to our physical home, where we live and also our spiritual home since our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it is blessed because where God dwells there are his blessings and favor. YOU are favored and blessed if you are filled with his Spirit. Think about for a moment! The wicked are cursed-but YOU and your house is blessed! What kind of blessings are we talking about? Let´s look at the following scriptures and you will find GREAT TREASURES:

Deuteronomy 28:2-8 (NLT) “You will experience all these blessings IF you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in your towns and in the country. You will be blessed with many children and productive fields. You will be blessed with fertile herds and flocks. You will be blessed with baskets overflowing with fruit, and with kneading bowls filled with bread. You will be blessed wherever you go, both in coming and in going. The Lord will conquer your enemies when they attack you… And the Lord will bless everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain.”

Psalm 31:19 (NLT) “God wants to bless you visibly in front of others as a testimony. “Lord, you have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You do much for those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.”

Ezekiel 34:26 (NLT) “God blesses you so you can be a blessing to others! “I will cause my people and their homes around my holy hill to BE a blessing. And I will send showers, showers of blessings, which will come just when they are needed.” Ezekiel 34:26 (NLT)

THANK you, Lord, for all your blessings!

YOU Are Family!

All families are not alike. There are three different ways one can enter a family: we can be born into a family in which case it is LIFE that secures the relationship. Secondly, we can be adopted into a family in which case it is LAW that secures the child and provides the same rights as the other children have. Or thirdly, we can marry into a family, in which case it is LOVE that secures the covenant between husband and wife.

In our family we are blessed with three children: two biological sons and one daughter, adopted from China. We love all our children the same, each one is unique and a true miracle and gift from God. We also have another daughter, placed in our care by social services. She is the youngest and enjoys the same rights, benefits and love as all of our children.

In 1 John 3:1 we read that we are called children of GOD! What a privilege! The Holy Spirit puts us in the family of God by BIRTH when we are born again. The Father is the one who adopts us and the Son, Yeshua, is the one who lay down his life for us, his bride, and through his indescribable act of LOVE he puts us in God´s family through marriage. The first thing we´ll do entering heaven is attending a wedding feast. OUR wedding! WE are the bride and Yeshua will welcome each one of us personally.

If that is not enough- all the Angels will be cheering on as we proceed towards the throne while God, our father, is welcoming us home!

This reminds me of the story of the prodigal son – the one who left his family, his father and brother and spend all his inheritance in the world- until one day- he remembered how blessed and privileged he was being part of his family. Still on his way back to his father´s house – he suddenly sees his own father running towards him with open arms welcoming him back. He is home! Once again. Forever.

Reading 1 John 3: 1, I can hardly fathom why God would allow me to be part of his own family. I haven´t done anything to earn it. On the contrary- there was a time in my life – I wanted nothing to do with him. Mostly because I didn´t know who he really was. Until one day- the day he opened my eyes completely and I began to run- to run into his arms and I heard him say: WELCOME HOME, my child! And now I understand what family is all about. It is being LOVED unconditionally.

Today, let me encourage you: You are not alone! God wants you to be part of his family! You are welcome back- no matter has happened! You are LOVED!

FS Word of Power – May 6, 2020 – We Don’t Lose Heart

“We don´t lose HEART”

Are you under pressure, right now? Are you being attacked on all sides? Is all hell breaking lose? At the same time? If the answer is yes, allow me to encourage you with this: You are not the only one! In fact, we can read in 2 Corinthians 4 about the trials and difficulties the disciples found themselves in on a daily basis. They were surrounded with all kinds of calamities.

Verse 8-11 and 16-18: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. And verse 16:” Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Typically, the enemy will use THREE different types of attacks i.e. firing THREE different types of arrows in the attempt to damage your shield of faith which protects you from not losing hope, not losing faith and losing your love for God.
The first type of attack or arrow is a common one- you know the usual stuff: sickness, unexpected bills or a harsh word from a friend. The goal of the attack is to tempt you to lose your patience while suffering pain or to curse the friend that hurt your feelings. Why? Because the enemy knows that SIN keeps you from the blessings that God has for you and your family.

The second type of attack comes during a specific season: when we are weak, for example, when we are exhausted after working 10 days in a row or when the baby has had colic for 3 months and you haven´t slept for ages. This time the goal is to attack our mind by asking: IF God can do all things WHY doesn´t he do something about it? WHY doesn´t he heal my child? The enemy attacks our trust in God´s authority and wants you to disobey his word like Eve did when the snake tempted her by saying:” “Has God indeed said, ….? In other words: Did he “really” promise to be God our healer? In a situation like that it is absolutely crucial to not lose faith and not lose heart. Instead- keep proclaiming is word and his promises!

The third type of attack is the one mentioned in 2 Cor 4:8 when Paul states that “We are hard pressed on every side” or in other words: in a just a second- ALL hell breaks loose and you find yourself in a storm being hit by one wave after the other. We read in Job chapter 1 that he lost his entire family and fortune in just ONE DAY.

How is this encouraging you may ask? Well, because- oh hallelujah- there is a BUT in verse 8 right after “pressed on every side”! As a matter of fact, there is a “BUT” for each title wave of attack. Let´s read it one more time focusing on the word BUT: “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. Why is that? Here we go: because of verse 18 (ready? And there are two more “buts” coming up) So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

That´s the reason we don´t lose heart: we fix our eyes, in faith, on what is not seen: HEAVEN, Jesus sitting at right side of the Father in Glory, knowing that what is unseen is also eternal and cannot perish or be destroyed! In other words- ALL of that which cannot be destroyed by the enemy because has no authority there. Heaven is real and Heaven is eternal. So there! Throw that in the enemy´s face!
Therefore, are we able to not lose heart because we know that even if we are pressed on every side here on Earth- our final destination and eternal home is HEAVEN and being in the presence of God- our Father- forever. So, remember whatever happens, don´t lose heart because from there comes LIFE!

FS WORD OF POWER – WHO’S IN CHARGE – 04/29/30

FS Word of Power

April 29, 2020

Eva Windahl

WHO IS IN CHARGE?

Sometimes when things go wrong or if you have a complaint you might ask “who is in charge here?” or in other words: you are asking for someone who has the power to do something about your problem or situation. If we have a look at the word charge, we can see that it derives from Latin carrus, “a wagon,” hence, “to lay or put a load on or in,” “to burden, or be a burden”. In 1 Peter 5:7, Yeshua encourages us with the following: “cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” This is nothing new since King David reminding himself, while being attacked, is doing the exact same thing with Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved (shaken).” In essence, King David and Yeshua himself are saying: hand whatever concerns you or troubles you over to the one in charge; cast it, throw it on him, i.e. onto GOD! The problem is that we are forgetting that it is up to God- not us.

Let me illustrate how we can approach a situation demonstrating faith in God´s authority. Let`s have a look at Luke 7: 3-10” 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, “This man deserves to have you do this,5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.” 6 So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.7 That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, “I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel.”10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.”

The Centurion, a roman, KNEW who was in charge! But: Do you? Sometimes when we pray, we come to God as though we have to convince him that he should care about us. Ever done that? I have;” Please Lord hear my prayer, please Lord see to it that… or Please God- you have to do it now!” But the point is that when we have faith in our Chief Commander-God- he WILL respond and take care of whatever we face. As a matter of fact, God even controls Satan. There is nothing to be really afraid of in life because, whatever trouble we face, God was in it before it started and will be with you through it to the end. Yet, even when we know these things, we sometimes want to take control and try to make our lives easier. Paul wrote that “the mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.” (Romans 8:7) Hostility and fear make peace and joy impossible. King David, as he faced many enemies, aware that his life could end at the tip of a sword at any time, refused to let fear steal his joy: “I will sing and make music to the Lord.” (Psalm 27:6)

I believe that we sometimes should ask God to pardon our disbelief, our anxiety and fear not believing him when he says that he WILL take of things.

So, let´s pray together encouraging one another to have more faith in him being in charge! Father, I have tried to control my life and even to control other people’s behavior to suit my purposes: forgive me. You are the King of my heart, one and only Sovereign, Lord of all. Thank you that I don’t have to be in control because YOU are. Thank you for perfect leadership, for your omniscient command of every situation, and for loving us while you hold all things together. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

FS Word of Power – “Let Go” 04/22/20

FS WORD OF POWER

LET GO…

There are certain things we have to, ought to and must LET GO…

Today as you read this let me address THREE LIES that you have to let go of:
1) “You are not strong enough to do this” – But scripture says in Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”

2) “You are not brave enough to do this”- But scripture says in Joshua 1:9” Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

3) “You have messed up too much to have any hope” But scripture says in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
And in Lamentations 3:22-23:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end;
23 they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The enemy is a LIAR- always has been, always will be. There is no truth in him- at all. Everything he says, everything he suggests and tempts you with is a LIE! He is out after one thing and one thing only: to destroy your life by believing his lies! I believe that for every Lie the enemy wants to snare you with- God has a word of TRUTH! Because everything God says is true. God is not capable of lying according to Numbers 23.19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it?

Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” And Apostle Paul reassures us in Hebrews 6:18 that:” it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us.” Yeshua said: I AM the Truth!

Moreover, we should:
Let go of complaining — focus on gratitude.
Let go of being a pessimist — become an optimist.
Let go of harsh judgments — think kind thoughts.
Let go of worrying — trust divine providence.
Let go of discouragement — be full of hope.
Let go of bitterness — turn to forgiveness.
Let go of hatred — return good for evil.
Let go of negativism — be positive.
Let go of anger — be more patient.
Let go of gloom and doom — enjoy the beauty that God has created around us.
Let go of jealousy — be happy and bless others- it´s our turn soon!
Let go of gossiping — control our tongue and speak to encourage and to empower.

Instead we should LET GOD be our focus and Hope! Let me encourage you today to have FAITH in him who will never lie to you! God can be trusted, and he is reliable! Allow me to close with one of my favorite scriptures (and I have many…) James 1:17: “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. It was of His own will that He gave us birth [as His children] by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits of His creatures [a prime example of what He created to be set apart to Himself—sanctified, made holy for His divine purposes].

FS WORD OF POWER – A SHOUT OF VICTORY 04/15/20

FS Word of Power

Eva Windahl

A Shout of VICTORY

Let us read: Matthew 27:50-55 (NIV)

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[a] went into the holy city and appeared to many people. 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

At his death, “Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit” (Matthew 27:50). I always considered and thought that Yeshua cried out because of the pain he was enduring while being crucified! But his year only a few days ago I believe the Holy spirit revealed another way of understanding the scripture in Matthew 27.

This time I heard it was a shout of VICTORY! – that tore the veil apart forever and reopened the way to God, an instant gateway to heaven. Not only in the temple in Jerusalem but also in the spirit world.

It is by his death on the cross as a ransom that achieves the forgiveness of sins that Jesus accomplishes his mission to save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21). The veil was a physical, visible barrier indicating that access to God was strictly prohibited because of His holiness. It is imperative to remember that the holiness of God remains unchanged from all eternity even after the veil is torn. What has changed, then, is that the atoning death of Yeshua on the cross has provided an eternal perfect sacrifice, one which the bulls and goats of the old covenant could not provide (Hebrews 10:4).

The author of Hebrews invites us to boldly approach God´s throne: “we have confidence to enter the holy places” (Hebrews 10:19), and this is accomplished by the blood of Jesus. This is the “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20) that Christ opened for us through the veil, which, the author says, is through his flesh. This means that the breaking of Jesus’s body at the crucifixion is the only means by which believers have access to the presence of God.

We are called to walk in VICTORY! WE are called to shout in VICTORY! Together with Yeshua thanking him for reuniting us with God our ABBA father!

How do we do that on a daily basis? We PROCLAIM His word! Let me encourage you to speak His word!

Allow me to close with the following scriptures that promise VICTORY:

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 8:37

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

2 Corinthians 2:14

But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

Deuteronomy 20:4

For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.’

Romans 8:31

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Romans 8:1-39

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Romans 8:39

Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, …

John 16:33

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

FS WORD OF POWER – DEATH CAN NOT HOLD HIM – 04/08/20

FS WORD OF POWER

“DEATH couldn´t hold him”

My favorite holiday is EASTER. Not only because spring is around the corner, not only because it´s starts to bloom here and there. I love EASTER because Yeshua rose again! Life defeated death. Hope defeated fear. Without Easter there is no Gospel or Good news because as Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 15:17:” And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.”
But HALLELUJAH He did rise again because death couldn’t hold him or to put it in other words:

Darkness fell
His friends scattered
Hope seemed lost
…But then HEAVEN just started counting to THREE!

On Friday Yeshua was crucified, on Saturday He lay in the tomb but then came SON DAY:
And he ROSE again: One -Two -Three! As I write these short lines to you- I hear within my heart an old hymn:

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because He lives
And then one day
I’ll cross that river
I’ll fight life’s final war with pain
And then as death gives way to vict’ry
I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know he lives…”

My friend, because He lives anything can happen, and nothing is impossible anymore because even if we have to leave this Earth and die- we will live again. Death has no power over us who believe that Yeshua is the Son of the living God. Listen, the first thing Yeshua did after rising from the death, was look for His disciples. The very first person He spoke to was Mary Magdalene, sending her to the others proclaiming the Good News: He would meet them in Galilee. They were not abandoned and not alone. As a matter of fact HE WAS ON HIS WAY TO THEM. I hear the Father say this Easter and any Easter: HE IS ON HIS WAY TO YOU! So hold on, believe, have hope, share the Good News and BE GLAD. God always keeps his promises! Remember: because HE LIVES, we can face tomorrow!

John 11:25-26:” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Wishing you a blessed Easter!

FS WEDNESDAY DAY OF POWER – BEING A FOOL OF CHRIST – 04/01/20

FS WORD OF POWER

Being a FOOL for Christ…

Today is April 1st and while some people are trying to “fool” somebody or doing a prank, others might have experienced a condescending comment or look from somebody because of expressing their faith in Christ. Let me encourage you with the following Word of Power:

1 Corinthians 4:10, which famously says: “We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised.” (KJV).

Where is the power in that? Let me explain. Though we shudder at the idea of being called a fool, in 1 Corinthians, we find Paul wearing the title as a badge of honor. Perhaps, as we approach April Fool’s Day, the day of hoaxes and fools, we should consider why. 1 Cor 3:18 tells us that “Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. (1 Corinthians 3:18)

I believe the Apostle Paul is trying to show us that becoming a fool for Christ is actually the wisest thing to do. What Paul actually does is point us to YESHUA. Even he looked foolish many times in the eyes of pharisees and family members not realizing who he really was; including his disciples who didn’t understand his methods or ways, and many people thought him weak and passive even though he was the personification of wisdom and strength. WHY? Because Yeshua turned the world around him upside down. The message of the Kingdom often times contradicted the message of the Pharisees for example when Yeshua pardoned an adulteress or reached out and healed a leper. How foolish was that! The message of the Gospel is foolishness to some but us, who believe, it is quite the opposite! And there lays great power within it: “For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18)

Why is the way of the cross considered foolishness for those who are perishing?

It’s foolish to think sinners could be reconciled.
It’s foolish to think true strength is found in weakness.
It’s foolish to think freedom is rooted in restraint.
It’s foolish to think death could be reversed.
It’s foolish to think you could be fully known and fully loved.
It’s foolish to think another could pay your debt and remove your chains.

But this is the upside-down world the gospel offers. Paul understood this upside-down world. He understood that God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and what is weak, low, and despised to shame the strong, haughty, and applauded, so the only cause for boasting would be in Christ (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). Let´s us Make a fool of ourselves- let us put aside our pride or bruised ego. Let us become more like Christ. Remember Noah? He certainly looked like a fool in many people´s eyes building an arc on dry land and yet he continued to carry out God´s will and by doing that and not giving up he saved not only himself but his entire family. Be a fool -it’s the wisest thing you can do! Not only on April 1st – but on any other day of the year.

HAPPY April Fool´s Day! / Bless

FS Word of Power – How to Be An Overcomer – March 25, 2020

FS WORD OF POWER

Eva Windahl

March 25, 2020

How to be an overcomer in times like these…

Did you know that you are called to be an OVERCOMER? To be OVER and not under?
How can we live a life ABOVE circumstances? HOW can we keep our faith?
Let me answer these questions today and encourage you to BE an OVERCOMER!

In 1 John 5:4 we can read that in order to be an overcomer we have to be BORN AGAIN! If we are born of God, through his Holy Spirit, we are born to and called to OVERCOME! What? The WORLD! And all that is in it! We are called to live a life in faith, believing and proclaiming the word of God. Allow me to share a few scriptures about what God has said concerning the matter:

· “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

· “Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good”.
Romans 12:21

· “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it”. John 1:5
· “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

· “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”1 Timothy 6:12

· “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37

· “Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” 1 John 5:5

As we can see from the above scriptures, God assures us that we are in fact called to OVERCOME through our faith. But in order to overcome- our faith needs to be put to the test- you see in order have faith- our faith must be exposed to trials and ordeals (and not many of like that-including me) but I believe that God is letting us go through some tough times in order to train our spiritual muscles and I speak from personal experience. My family and I have been through many difficulties but in retrospect I can see how God has used these fiery trials to develop faith and perseverance in my life in order to OVERCOME present circumstances. To be honest I don´t think I would have made it this far without going through and holding onto my faith – believing that “all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 So instead of living in fear of the Corona virus or anything else that tries to rob your faith let me encourage you to take advantage of the present situation- LIFT your head- LIFT your faith-LIFT your voice and proclaim with me today: “WE are more than overcomers- we are born of God” and NOTHING will defeat us through our faith in Yeshua- our savior and redeemer -the living word of God. Amen!

FS Wednesday Word of Power – I Will Hope in Him – 03/18/20

FS WORD OF POWER

 Eva Windahl

 March 18, 2020

With borders closing, schools closing and entire countries closing down one might think that things are hopeless. But this morning I heard the Lord say: “Don’t throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. 36 You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” (Hebrews 10:35-36) What is the will of God right now? To NOT lose HOPE! Instead of focusing on the negative i.e. the Corona virus, let us focus on what God says in His Word: Have faith, trust Me and focus on Me!

King David often times found himself in a lot of trouble. He was attacked by enemy forces.  He was persecuted by his father-law King Saul. He was rejected by his own family and was constantly engaged in battle waring against enemy forces seemingly greater than he. And yet: King David prayed and worshiped God. He shared his heart with the one who could help.

In Psalm 121 he cries out: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.”

Today I would like to remind you, that things are NOT hopeless because our help comes from the Lord and therefore, we have HOPE.

A few lines from the book of Lamentations (3:22-33) uttered by the prophet Jeremiah give us even more HOPE:

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. Lamentations 23 – 2623 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”25 The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him;26 it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

When a biblical writer says, “God is my portion,” he means that God is the source of his happiness and blessing. He is content with all that the Lord is and provides. He has the best inheritance imaginable and does not seek any possession or comfort outside of God. Riches, honor, friends and fame; nothing is as valuable as the promises of God. “My flesh and my heart may fail, But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:26, NASB).

No matter what happens, we can HOPE in Him.  The Lord is our portion forever. Never, ever lose hope.
