2nd Chronicles 20

Jim Mellard

We overcome by the word of our testimonies and the blood.

Revelation 12:11 – And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. (AMP)

The Holy Spirit would say to you today that I am giving you more revelation. I am giving you more weapons, more understanding so that you will stand tall in this world. I have begun to open secrets that the prophets of old would have liked to have known. I am opening a new door, new weapons – Revelation and insight into My Word. I am going to put before you My Word in a manner (revelation) that as any situations arise you will be able to apply My Word immediately and you shall see how Isaiah 55:11 shall apply. You will see and hear from My people, the ones who will say- Yes Lord and apply My principles to their situation, you will see and hear of many miracles, for My Word will be glorified and I in turn will rejoice in My Son.

For a moment I want to show you what this means to me and YOU – if you will allow. Like most of you, I have read and studied the Bible, but God began teaching me on 2 Chronicles 20.

Beginning in Verse 1-5 – We are told that Jehoshaphat was advised that an enemy was going to kill him and his people. He was afraid and did not know what to do, so he called all the people together and they began a fast.

When the dark clouds gather, the winds begin to blow bringing more questions than answers, friends betray you, you can’t seem to hear God, there is fear in your heart of “what if”, this is where Jehoshaphat was and when this happens God will reveal the hidden things to us.

Daniel 2:22 – He reveals the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him! (AMP)

Matthew 6:6 -But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open. (AMP)

Job 15:8 – Were you present to hear the secret counsel of God? And do you limit [the possession of] wisdom to yourself? (AMP)

Psalms 25:16 – [Lord] turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted.

What does 2nd Chronicles 20 tell us?

Verse 6 – He tells God who he is – Worship.

Verse 7-8 – Reminds God of what he has done – Praise.

Verse 9 – Reminds God of the Covenant they have.
When I first taught on this I was encouraged to make covenant with God concerning my situations…I DID!

Verse 10-11 – Tells God what the enemy is doing.

Verse 12 – Will you help us?

Verse 14-15 – The Spirit of God comes on the prophet and He speaks. Part of a prophet’s call is to represent God to the people as well as the people to God (Intercession). All Prophets are Intercessors, but not all Intercessors are Prophets. God speaks – It is not your battle. It is mine! Be not afraid!

Jehoshaphat understands! He says Trust in the Lord and you will be established, believe his prophets and you shall prosper.

Victory

The rest of the Chapter is VICTORY! Now let’s apply this to us.

Vs 6-7 – Jehoshaphat began to seek the Lord and began to declare who He is. You praise him and then you begin to worship him. Praise is defined as thanking Him for what He has done. Worship is defined as declaring Him as who He is.

Example: Father I thank you for Jesus, for His dying that I might live. I thank you for the gifts you have given me, the fellowship. And now Father I declare you are King of Kings, Lord of Lord! You are awesome! There is none like you and I just am in awe before you! Lord I love you!

First he declared who he is. You are the God of our Fathers, the God of the Heavens, power and might are in your hand. You have driven out the people that tried to hurt us. Telling him what he has done and reminding him of his covenant with them.

We dwell in your protection. If evil comes we will stand before you and claim Your Name. We are called by Your Name. They praise and worship God and remind him of His covenant with us, some of you made a covenant with God, I did.

As the veil was pulled from my eyes, my heart jumped with understanding and joy, for I knew God was not a respecter of person. Hallelujah!

I took the Word literally. I began to practice the Word and did exactly as Jehoshaphat did.

V8-10 – Worships the Lord. He continues to worship God.

V11 – He makes known his problems.

V12 – Admits he doesn’t know what to do, but I trust you.

V13—14 – Here comes God (the Spirit of the Lord) comes on the situation.

battle is the lords

V 15 – Oh, yea! The Lord speaks – BE NOT AFRAID FOR THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S NOT YOURS.

Wow!! Can you believe that? We have a covenant with God. What kind of covenant have you entered with God?

V16 – Although the Lord said it is my battle we are told to go out . Don’t need to fight, just stand and watch, fear not. If you will, a personal example of this. Last year I had some business problems, and as I was recovering, another problem came up and then another. The Lord said go to the people and re-sell , I went to the stores and they were waiting on me and purchased my products again! I had to go to them. I could not just sit and wait. I had to do my part, I went. I saw and the victory was mine.

V18 – Is a similitude of the birthing position. A new beginning if you will.

V19 – They went and went in faith believing that God’s Word was good.

V20 – As the prophets spoke…Believe them and you will be established and will prosper. You see how important it is to have the 5 fold ministry operating in your church. Without it you will not be equipped to handle the upcoming season.

2 Chronicles 20

When you are in doubt of what to do in any situation God has an answer: God will reveal the hidden things to us. Daniel 2:22-Job 15:8-Psalms 25:16; Matthew 6:6

Verse 1-2 – When it begins to rain on your life, you look around and you see the dark clouds forming, the winds begin to blow bringing more questions than answers, friends betray you. You can’t see the answer… you are afraid…THEN at last. You run to God for help.
You get your family. And you seek the Lord. You inquire, research and then you require of Him…What do I do now Lord.

Vs 5 ,6, 7 – You seek the Lord and began to declare who He is, you praise him and then you begin to worship him…Praise defined as thanking Him for what He has done, Worship Him defined as who He is. Example: Father I thank you for Jesus, for dying that I might live. I thank you for the gifts you have given me, the fellowship. And now Father I declare you are King of Kings, Lord of Lord, you are awesome there is none like you and I just am in awe before you…Lord I love you!

V 6-10 – Worships the Lord.

Vs 11 – Tells of the rewards for doing this.

Vs 12 – Admits don’t know what to do, but I trust you.

Vs 13—14 – Here comes God (the Spirit of the Lord) comes on the situation.

V 15 – Oh yea…the Lord speaks…BE NOT AFRAID FOR THE BATTLE IS THE LORD’S NOT YOURS.
