The Monday Night Forum – January 13, 2014

What Happened Last Week

This past Monday night we began talking about the Prophetic Ministry, what it is and what it means to you.  In the invitation to the forum, there were a couple of activations.  An activation is a situation meant to activate or stretch the gifts of the spirit the Holy Spirit has given to you.  Another way of explaining an activation is, it is a way to exercise or flex your spiritual gifts muscles.

Here in the Firestorm Forums, we have a safe place where everyone can “practice” using their gifts without fear of condemnation of error and no one is allowed to throw stones at you. (smile) I trust that God is faithful and knows we are seeking His voice to train, equip and mature His Church. The scripture says if we ask Him for bread, He will not give us a stone. Matthew 7:9

In prophecy, we are all stepping out of the boat to fine tune our thoughts to the Voice of God. We are trusting in Him to hold up the limb and/or water we step out upon, as we seek to move in the Holy Spirit’s gifts of prophecy, word of knowledge and the word of wisdom, which are the main gifts used when we prophesy.

Once we begin to move in these three gifts, we can begin to get an understanding of how to hear in our spirit and other gifts such as the gifts of tongues, interpretation of tongues, discerning of spirits, faith, healing and miracles can begin to come forth as well.  Our spiritual ears seem to wake up to the voice of The Holy Spirit.  Hallelujah!

The activation for Monday’s class was:  Stop for 60 seconds and quiet yourself.  Ask the Lord for one word that He would give you to speak tonight.  One word.

Three people heard the word wait.  Other words brought to the room were freedom, release, magic, sustain, diligence, deeper, prosperity, speak and patience.  What is interesting is, most also heard a bit of the reason of why they heard that word. For those who did not hear more, several in the room gave what they were hearing in their spirit.

We also had a prophetic word activation to mull over or test.

Is this a word from God?  Is this a prophetic word from God for you?

It is time for your spiritual life to be birthed for the corporate church. Do not fear, for your place has already been provided.  Do not listen to others who would tell you of your limitations, but press toward me for I shall fill you with rivers of water that shall wash away any and all limitations that shall be spoken upon you beyond your wildest imaginations.  Who shall you trust? My hope for you today is that you shall find your way to trust in Me.

If you look at the above word, does it witness to your spirit man, or sound right to you.  Is your gut feeling or intuition sensing this is a good word.  The three main things to look for from a prophetic word are:  Is it edifying, exhorting or comforting?  As Prophet Jim would say, “Does it Stir Up, Build Up or Cheer Up?

Most everyone agreed the above word was a word from the Lord to them. So, what did you think?

Yes our brain should be involved when we test a word. God does not tell us to turn off our brain when we get a word. In reality, we have two brains according to scientists and the church, the one in our head and the one in our heart.  Each one seems to have a mind of its own and things it desires. It is not always that they agree, so it is wise to study, pray and seek wise counsel, when discerning a word and/or making life changing decisions.

We need everything God has given us to be able to discern the tactics of our enemy.  Sometimes a word can seem right, sound right, look right and feel right, but maybe it doesn’t smell right, maybe there is just something there that gives you a feeling something is off.  That would be what we call having a check in our spirit. We have 5 natural senses; we see, we hear, we taste, we smell and we feel, however we have the same sense in the spiritual realm too.

It may be our natural man and all our senses in the natural say this is good, but oh, that spirit man is up and running and says….Whoa!  Something is amiss here.  Look out, be careful.  And of course, we all know that if any word we receive goes against Scripture, it’s a no.  Prophetic Words will not go against the written word. In Romans 7:23 it is written.

However, I see a different standard [at work] throughout my body. It is at war with the standards my mind sets and tries to take me captive to sin’s standards which still exist throughout my body. (God’s Word Translation)

It is good for us to be wise and use everything God has given us to look carefully at the words being spoken over us.

What is a prophetic word? Prophecy Defined:

1) Hebrew:  To flow forth; to bubble forth like a fountain; to spring forth
2) Greek: To speak for another; speaking for the mind and counsel of God
3) Supernatural ability to hear the voice of God. It is the voice of Christ who speaks to His Church.

A prophetic word is called the “living Word of God, or the Rhema.” The written Word of God (Bible) is called in Greek = Logos Word and in Hebrew = Memra; English = Word.
Remember:  The Rhema word will never go against the Logos word.

A prophet is a gift to the church.  They work well with the apostles, as the apostles keep them in order and watch their back.  And when God sent them out two by two, it was usually one who was an apostle with another who was a prophet.  A good working combination.

When we took classes on God Speak Ministry years ago, were given the 4 W’s about Prophecy.

1) Who can prophesy?  All believers.

I Cor 14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

I Cor 14:31  For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged,

2) Who is prophecy for? The church and for unbelievers

I Cor 14:4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

I Cor 14:24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,

3) What is prophecy? Prophecy is that which brings edification, exhortation and comfort to people.

I Cor 14:3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

4) Why prophesy?  Prophecy edifies the church, is a sign to unbelievers and brings glory to Jesus.

I Cor 14:3 On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.

I Cor 14:4 The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.

I Cor 14:24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all,

I Cor 14:28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God.

Rev 19:10 And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

In the World and the Church today, prophecy seems to either be accepted or rejected. It is either believed to be alive or now dead with the original apostles.  The 5 fold ministry, as we know it, symbolically starting with the thumb for the apostle, the index finger the prophet, the middle finger the evangelist, the ring finger is the pastor and the teacher is the little finger.

It is hard for me to figure out, if the pastor, teacher and evangelists are still alive and functioning in the church today, what’s up with no prophets or apostles? Why didn’t they stay around?  Wasn’t the need for them in the church just as valuable as the others?  Why would God stop giving apostles and prophets to His church? How do we make sense of that?

I am beginning to sense in my spirit a familiar check where God is up to something.  It never ceases to amaze me when He brings me into a teaching and if I am so prophetic, why can’t I see Him setting me up again, in the midst of another age old controversy.

So far He has brought me into the discussions of Women in the Church; The Cremation Issue; His Dietary Laws, Harry Potter and now here I sit with 3 out of the 5 fold ministries supposedly shut down and wondering, ” What is Up With That?” Especially since I am a leader of a Prophetic Ministry, which was birthed to help train, equip and mature the saints to hear the voice of God through the Prophetic Ministry of Jesus Christ.

It also should be noted that Firestorm Ministry is where the Lord put me to be trained by those who were mature in Him and obedient to not only love me in Christ, but to teach me of His Ways, which regularly seem to differ from the traditions of men.

So, Why no apostles or prophets? Well, off the top of my head, prophets and apostles seem to be two head dudes over the others in the church system.  So, could this still be the age old issue of a power struggle in the church today after all these years? Power between what God’s says and what man wants to do. When we get right down to it, money, control, power, lust of the eyes and the flesh seem to be at the bottom of all our problems. Someone always wants to be number one and keep others under their thumb.

OK, I’m going back in time to see what was going on in the Bible. The Lord has taken me to the books of Exodus and Numbers, in the day where Moses was struggling with being the leader of God’s people.  Interesting foot note here:  Moses called the people he was leading, God’s People (thy people)

(And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand/Exodus 32:11)

And God called them Moses’ people.

(And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: Exodus 32:7)

If this was not such a serious moment in time, it could also be quite funny because, it appears they are both ticked at “these” people and neither wanted to claim them.

(Numbers 11:10 Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.)

Moses goes on to tell God he can’t take it anymore, just kill me. (Numbers11:14-15 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.  And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.)

However, God has a plan, don’t you know God always has a plan.  Just when we think there is nothing left to do, He shows up with “the” plan.

God tells Moses to gather 70 of the elders of Israel who he knows are the elders and officers over the people and to bring them to the Tabernacle and have them stand there with him. And God says He will come and take “of” the spirit that is on Moses and put it upon them and they shall bear the burden of the people with Moses, so he is not under all the pressure all by himself.  (Num 11:16-17)

So Moses went out and told the people what God has said and stations the 70 elders around the tent. Then, the Lord comes down in the cloud (HS), and He took of the Spirit who was upon Moses and placed Him upon the 70 elders. Verse 25 tells us, and it came about that when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied…….and did not cease.

But that is not necessarily so, for in my Dakes KJ it shares in the side note:   “Literally not, that is, they prophesied at this time and not afterwards. Their anointing was to judge and govern, not to prophesy. Even on this occasion, only two of them continued to prophesy after the others had ceased.

Now, I have more questions, who said the anointing was only to judge and govern.  Where did the limitations come from.  If the Lord took from the Spirit from Moses and gave to them, it would seem He would say if there was a limitation.  It would seem this is what men thought.  This power from the Holy Spirit was limited to just “judging and governing.”

God does not limit us, traditions, thoughts and mind sets of men limit us.

So the Scriptures read about two that continued.  Which two? Verses 26-28 – Eldad and Medad.

26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them

So a good Samaritan runs to Moses and says Eldad and Medad are prophecying in the camp.  Evidently God thought it good to put the Spirit on these two as well as the other 70, which certainly was not what everyone else thought.  And then next we see Joshua stepping up saying, “My Lord Moses, forbid them.”

Evidently one of the translations of the word forbid is put them in prison or lock them up..

29 And Moses said unto him, “enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

The spirit to control God’s people and shut their mouths from sharing His Word is not from God. It is the spirit that comes against the Word of God and His People.

Who has shut you down?  What tradition or theology has told you to shut your mouth.  You are not worthy or you can’t hear God’s Voice?  That is not the voice of the Holy Spirit and the enemy is stealing what is your inheritance from God.  Surely in hearing these thoughts you are already hearing in the realm of the spirit.

Rebuke that voice, any voice except the voice of Your Father Who Art in Heaven and tune into Him.  He is the one who is the encourager, the comforter and the edifier.  He is the one who has brought you here to Firestorm, a safe place, to learn how to hear and speak His Words with no fear of condemnation or control.

Rise up people of God. Whether you are called as a prophet or given the gift of prophecy or move when the Spirit of Prophecy comes forth, YOU are called to hear and share the voice of God with others.  YOU are called to edify, comfort and exhort the body of Christ.

 YES, YOU ARE!

Moses showed no jealousy whatsoever with Joshua, but rather desired that ALL Israel would be thus anointed with the Spirit (v 28-30) Moses did not get less of the Spirit of God by sharing with God’s People……..He had a true heart for the people to each be strong in the Lord. He was not a good babysitter, he was a teacher, a leader and a warrior.

Time Rise up Church, step up and step out of the boat……..

There is a movie coming out called “God’s Not Dead.” It says:

Let love explode and bring the dead to life
A love so bold to see a revolution somehow

My God’s Not Dead

He’s surely alive

He’s living on the inside

Roaring like a Lion

God is Roaring on the Inside and wanting to come out of YOU.
I want to SEE and BE in that revolution and it will begin, when you and I get out of the boat and release the living words of our King Jesus and follow His Word.
